Ava's pov.
It's the day of the feis and I wake up to the sound of Sadies squeals. Mom found her a new dress and since she's obsessed with Minnie Mouse she has a red and white polka dot dress. My mom does Sadies wig and makeup first. She puts on her blonde bun wig and puts a giant red bow in the front and 2 smaller white and black bows in the back. She puts some white eyeshadow on her and mascara with red lipstick and some blush. She's the lucky one, she got my moms beautiful blonde hair while I got stuck with the boring brown hair but I love my wig because it's a full wig and it's so fun and bouncy so I always try really hard because I like seeing it move when my dad takes videos at the feises.
I go into the bathroom and change into my silver tank top and black nike pros that I wear under my dress. My dress is pink with a silver band around the skirt and a black bow on the skirt and a criss-cross pattern on the top and a silver sequined jacket like thing. Mias dress is a lot like mine only she has more bows on hers. I put on silver eyeshadow and pink blush and lipstick that matches my dress perfectly.
When I get out my mom is finishing Mias wig which is just a brown bun wig with a black bow in back like Sadie's but a silver flower on the side. She then starts on my wig with involves 50 bajillion bobby pins and enough hairspray to cause a hole in the ozone layer. I finish the look off with a silver tiara with a few pink and black flowers on the side.
I glue my socks to my legs. They're perfectly white with diamonds on them and I put on my black Nike sneakers and put on my school jacket and grab my bag then me, my mom, Mia and Sadie all walk down to the venue for the feis. We walk it and I immediately feel at home in this strange city. We get our numbers, I'm number 471 Mia is 147 and Sadie is 714. We all had twinning numbers which my mom found as a Facebook picture moment. I swear everything is a Facebook moment.
Sadie and Mia go into the gym where we're all dancing but I stay in the hallway to stretch and run through my steps. Once I'm happy with how I'm dancing I help get Sadie ready and remind her of the corrections Kelly gave her at class. Mia may be the most dedicated at home but I'm the most dedicated on feis days. Sadies competition starts and she's the smallest one but by far the cutest.
She steps out to do her reel and her first step is amazing but going into the second step the other girl runs into her and she freezes for a second but keeps going and finishes off strong. She looks upset but I mouth to her that it's okay and she still has 4 more dances. She then steps out for her slip jig. She points her toe and I cross my fingers and hold my breath.
Mia's POV
It's Feis day! I wake up to hear Sadie squealing like a pig who's in it's favorite mud pit. She's obsessed with the new dress mom found for her.
I eat my breakfast while mom does Sadie's hair. Sadie wears a blonde bun wig with a bunch of bows in her hair. She's the only kid with blonde hair, me and Ava have brown hair. Ava says it's boring, but I don't see how a hair color can be boring unless it's like gray or something.
Ava goes into the bathroom to change while mom's doing my hair.
"Ow mom! You definitely just poked my brain with that pin!" I cry. Man, that pin hurt! They should definitely try to come up with some softer bobby pins, especially for us Irish dancers who legit have to have 100 in our hair for hours.By the time Ava comes out of the bathroom with her finished makeup and changed into her Feis clothes, mom's just putting the bows in my wig. Then I head off to the bathroom to change. I pull on my black shorts, my favorite color tank top (pink!), and my poodle socks. Me and Ava have almost the same dresses, but slightly different so people usually know right away that we're twins. The annoying part is they always mix us up because our dresses are so similar.
I always have to tell them, "Ava's the one with the full wig, I'm the one with the bun wig and dress with more black bows on it." They still always mess it up though. When Ava's hair is done, we both slip on our nike's and head outside to start walking to the venue. It's a strange city, but I like it because it's pretty quiet. Granted, it's super early in the morning but still!
We walk into the Feis and get our numbers, and of course they're like matching: I'm 147, Ava is 471, and Sadie is 714, which of course means pictures, pictures, and oh yeah! more pictures.
After the paparazzi moments end, Sadie and I walk into the gym where we're all dancing. Ava said she was gonna stay in the hallway to warm up and practice. I help Sadie warm up and stretch and then it's time for her competition. Ava is back by now and we're standing with mom by the edge of the stage behind the judge, watching the competition.
"She's the smallest one!" I exclaim.
"Yeah, and the cutest." Ava adds. I nod, and then it's time for Sadie to dance. Her reel is looking amazing but then in the second step, the other girl bumps into her. She freezes for a second, but finishes even stronger than when she started. I give her a thumbs up when she's back in line, but she doesn't look too confident. She can't really beat herself up THAT much, she's still got four other dances to do!Now it's Sadie's turn for slip jig. She steps out, and begins to dance.
