Ava's pov
I can't believe how good my little sister is! She's basically flying around the floor and her kicks are practically up to her face. Kelly always choreographs to our strengths and doesn't make us do all the same steps. She finishes her slip jig and me and Mia run down with her hard shoes, electrical tape and her water bottle. We're basically her little feis pit crew. We finish her shoes and she goes back into line for treble jig, hornpipe and traditional set. She's doing really well and I think she'll place in her dances. Of course we want her to win but it's her first prizewinner and she's in a U9 competition and she's only 5.She runs over to us once she's done and my mom carefully takes off her dress and puts it back in her bag. Now it's time to wait for her results then me and Mia get to dance. I go into the practice room while we're waiting and all the older girls are in there but I don't care. I find a corner and put my headphones In and practice my hornpipe. Mainly the double clicks at the beginning of my second step. I just got them put into my steps but the ones in my hornpipes are the ones that worry me the worst. My teacher says my steps are more suited for older kids but I've proven that I can do the moves so she gave them to me. Less work for both of us when I get into prelim I guess.
Sadie coming running in snapping me out of my daze. I notice she has 5 medals around her neck which means she placed in everything! "Sadie how did you do!" "1st in my Reel, Treble Jig and Set and 2nd in Slip Jig and Hornpipe!" "Sadie that's amazing I knew you would do awesome" "oh and mommy says you have to go get ready to dance..." "Oh god Sadie lets go" I take her hand and run back to the gym and I put on my dress and go to line up. I go out to dance my reel, point my toe, take a deep breath and go. This is it. I know it.
Mia's POV
Sadie's looking absolutely amazing! She's running around the floor and she's really doing well! When she finishes, Ava and I run over to her with her hard shoes, white tape, and her water. We finish her shoes and she gets in line for her hard shoe dances.Ava says that Sadie's doing really well and that she's gonna place high, and I agree! Today, Sadie looked amazing! I just hope the judges see how good she is, considering this is her first prizewinner Feis, and she's 5 and competing against much older girls.
Once she's finished, Sadie runs over to us and mom helps her take off her dress and put it away. Then Ava walks off, to practice I guess, and I start warming up by our stuff. We're dancing soon, and I wanna make sure I'm as ready and warmed up as possible when I hit the stage.
I'm drilling my beats in my jig (because again, I struggle with beats and there's a ton in jig) when Sadie runs over. I see she has several medals on and she looks so excited. That's a good sign!
"Sadie, how'd you do?" I ask.
"First in reel, jig, and set and I got second in slip jig and hornpipe!" She exclaims.
"Sadie, that's amazing! I knew you would do well!" I hug her but then she steps back."I just told Ava the same thing but mommy wants you to get ready because your competition starts soon." Oh shoot! I had no idea!
I slip on my dress, and Sadie zips it up for me and puts the cape on. Then we run together over to the stage where Ava is already waiting with mom.
"Good luck!" Mom calls after us as we're walking over to the line. I do a couple deep breaths to calm me down before walking onstage. I just gotta dance my best and own it!
