Double Treble (Book 1 of the Ava and Mia Series)

Chapter 14

The announcer calls from places 10th to 6th, and then the top 5 dancers are led in front of the podium.

"In fifth place is number 102, Maeve Murphy from The Reed School." Me and Lucy and Mia look at each other excitedly.
"We have a tie for fourth place between competitors 182 Katherine Albot from the Albot School of Irish Dance and number 163, Mila O'Donnell from the Francis O'Donnell Academy." Me and Lucy scream so loud for Mila because she just got fourth out of 112 girls! She looks so happy standing there. I'm so proud of my friends and sister! The rest of awards are a blur. When they finish I go to find Lucy and I give her a big hug.

"AVA PETERSON YOU DID SO WELL!" She scream hugging me back.
"We both did so well! I'm so happy!" I says. Then we find Mila and give her a huge hug. She looks really excited and I'm not surprised!
"Mila you did so well! Oh my gosh I'm so excited for you!" Lucy says.
"Thanks Lucy! You did so good too considering it's your first Oireachtas! We're gonna kill it at Nationals in Orlando next year!" She says happily. She freezes.
"Wait they're in Orlando?" I ask.
"Yeah!" Mila says.
"We're going to Disney!" She scream and we all hug each other again.

"LUCY COLLINS YOU GOT TWENTY SECOND AT YOUR FIRST OIREACHTAS!" Mia screeches giving me such a big hug.
"WE'RE GOING TO NANS!" I scream back and we both jump up and down. We all have a big group hug on stage then we go back to our "camp site." We all congratulate Chloe and Kylie.

Kylie looks over the moon but you can tell Chloe's not happy. She goes over to her mom and me and Lucy hear her say "I definitely deserved to beat Lucy, but it's ok because I'm going to Nationals anyway." Me and Lucy exchange a look but srug it off. She probably just upset. We all hug and say good bye (until tomorrow obviously). Lucy's mom says she can stay for a little while but not till awards because the need to get home. We grab all of our stuff and mom takes a picture of us. We get our results sheets to look over when we get back to the hotel.

*30 minutes later*

Me and Mia sit down on our bed to look over our results. Mom doesn't let us tell each other so we don't feel bad. I look over my scores. In round one I got 10th place from the 1st judge 12th from the second and 4th from the third. WAIT WHAT! A JUDGE GAVE ME 4TH?

"Okay Ava calm down." In round two I got 5th 7th and 6th. Woah. I got 9th in the first round and 6th in the second round and 5th overall going into set! I guess my set must have been pretty bad... I got 20th 17th and 27th in my set... So I was 21st in that... I guess that dropped me down a lot so I got 14th I'm still super happy with my rounds. My mom put Sadie to bed because she dances tomorrow but her first round isn't until 11 so we can hang out with Mila and Lucy for a bit. Lucy has to leave at noon anyway.

We get to stay all 3 days because I'm in 2 4 hands and a 8 hand, Mias only in one 4 hand and the same 8 hand. My mom tells us to go to sleep because Sadie keeps waking up. I fall asleep looking at my gold box with my Oireachtas medal.
