Chapter 11

"5 6 1 2 ready go!" I hear Mia go in my head, "Kick out kick out Switch jump switch Jump Change 23 step birdie." I try to push all my birdies and kicks above my head. My mom likes to say I'm her little rubber band! I feel myself zooming around the stage and in no time I'm on my third step. "Switch jump flexed Switch jump flexed Twist Twist twist Change 23 step birdie." I finish off my reel high up on my toes. I point my toe and bow. When we walk off a volunteer hands us a certificate for completing our two rounds I wish them good luck for recalls and go back over to our spot.

I sit with Mila again because it's nice to have some company other than my mom. Before we know it Chloe is up. Her reel looks amazing! I'm jealous... Then next up is Mia and Lucy. I have Mias steps memorized so I know when she forgets something. She gets through her reel without messing up but Razz is shaking her head. "She forgot her 2nd step. She improved which was good but I knew I shouldn't have changed it so soon. She's gonna be so upset with herself but she looked amazing."

Lucy and Mia come over and Lucy immediately starts crying. "I forgot my second step." She sobs. Razz and Mila help calm her down and she stops crying. Me and Mia both agreed that she looked really good. I say bye to my new friends and we head back over to mom. We put back on our pinnies and jackets and decide to walk around the convention center. "MOM IM HUNGRY." Sadie wails. She has legit no fliter. "Hey I saw a place across the street maybe we could go there." Mia pipes up.
"Thank you Mia for being so helpful." She looks over and me. I shrug and look away. We walk across the street to the Hard Rock Cafe.

"Hey, Lucy!" Mia sees her new friend and waves to her. "Hi Mia!" I wave. Our moms do that mom thing and introduce themselves. My mom says, "You must be Lucy! I've heard quite a lot about you this morning!" Mrs. Collins laughs and says, "I've heard quite a lot about you too Mia! You and Ava looked really good today!"
"Lucy did too considering this was her first Oireachtas!" My mom says. "Well we have to go get our table, but we'll see you back in the ballroom later for recalls!" Then we go over to our table. We look at our menus and I decide I'm getting a cheeseburger with fries just like Sadie. But of course as the perfect child Mia has to decide she wants a Salad. Mom looks over at me but I purposely look down at my menu to avoid her gaze. The next 10 minutes are awkward because none of us know really what to talk about. we don't want to talk about our rounds but we don't want to jinx recalls. We eat quickly and head back over to the convention center.

For recalls we sit with Lucy and her school. I'm number 162 and Mia is 131. Mila Lucy and Chloe are 163 132 and 209. We all sit holding eachothers hands. A man calls out over the loud speaker. "We have the recalls for Competition 12, Girls under 8." We all shriek with excitement and my mom has the program book out to mark off the recalls. "Quiet in the hall please. Please do not scream if you hear your number. We need all competitors to hear their number being called if they have recalled."

We all get quiet as he begins. "101 105 109 110.." We're all super nervous as Lucy and Mias numbers come closer. "119, 129,..." Mias breaking my hand I think. "130... 131..." MY TWIN JUST RECALLED AT OIREACHTAS!!! "132... 134... 139..." Lucy just sits there in shock. We're super excited as mine and Milas numbers come closer. "143...156... 159... 162... 163..." Me and Mila hug eachothers now Chloe and the other girl from there school are the only ones left. "191, 196, 198, 199, 200..." The girl grins and I hear Razz say "good job Kylie."
"202, 205, 208, 209, 212". Those are all the recalls for girls u8. I will read them again just in case."

We all jump up and hug each other once he's finished reading them off.
"WE ALL RECALLED AT OIREACHTAS!!!!!" We all yell and go into a big group hug. Then we all go our separate ways so we can practice our sets. 30 minute later we're called backstage to line up for our sets.
