Chapter 7

Ava's pov
It's one week till Oireachtas and I'm super excited. Me and Mia both got new dresses. Mine is mainly a bright pink with some black and white embroidery. And the best part is I get to wear a blonde wig with it! Mia's is pink and gold but she still is wearing a brown wig. We've both been working really hard to place in the top 20 again this year but the competition is a lot tougher this year. Sadie is already at the studio because she had a private noon to three.

She only goes to school for a half day because she's in kindergarten but since we're in 2nd grade we have to go full day. But since Oireachtas is in a week our mom picks us up from school and brings us straight to dance. Kelly really wants us to qualify for NANS this year too.

Classes are a lot harder since we're just having Oireachtas classes. Me and Mia are in the class with the rest of the girls doing solos and it's really intimidating.
One time I had to dance with a 17 year old. Her name is Caroline and she got 2nd at Nationals last year and won Oireachtas. She's amazing and I want to be just like her when I'm older!

Me and Mia are both having trouble with our reels because we can't move around the stage fast enough. It's not our fault we have little legs! Kelly Calls me and Mia over to talk to us about this problem. She said if she has to she's giving us sugar right before we go on to make us move faster. But we don't want that to happen. We go back to do our reel and I just imaging i have wings and I'm flying around the studio. I barely hear the music but when we finish me and Mia are both about to collapse. I hope that doesn't happen at Oireachtas!

Mia's POV
Omg! It's one week till Oireachtas, and already the nerves are kicking in! Oh yeah, and Ava and I both just got new dresses! Mine is pink and gold and soooooooo pretty! I love it so much! Ava's is bright pink with black and white but the funniest part is that she has to wear a blonde wig! I laughed so hard when I heard that!

Anyway, we're both been working super hard because we wanna make top 20 this year. We know that it's gonna be a much harder competition this year, but that just makes us more determined than ever!

Sadie's already at the dance studio since she's having a three hour private. She's in kindergarten so she goes to school half days, meaning she gets to practice loads more than Ava and I. But since it's so close to Oireachtas (I call it Oireachtas crunch time), mom picks us up from school and brings us right to dance. All everybody's telling us is that we should definitely qualify for NANs, and that makes me nervous because it's so much pressure!

Ava and I both go to class now with older and better girls, since we're going to the MARO. That means classes are so much harder, but I like a good challenge!

Ava and I always get yelled at by Kelly to go around the stage quicker and better in our reels, but it's kinda hard when you've got smaller legs than like the 17 year old next to you. Kelly even told us that she's gonna give us sugar to get us to move around more in our reels if she has too! I thought that was pretty funny.

It's time for Ava and I to do our reels again, and this time all I'm thinking about it moving around the stage. Not moving, flying. I've got to literally fly around that stage! I'm doing it, and Ava is too, but by the end my legs are so tired and wobbly they feel like jello! I can tell Ava feels the same because she collapses on the ground next to me, and then I plop down too. We may be dead, but at least we got around the stage alright!
