Can you still call it "Missing"
when no one missed you?
I was gone for two months.
No calls,
no messages,
nowhere to be seen,
and no one looking.
Stopped talking to my friends
yet met a lot of people -
always surrounded by strangers
I was everywhere in the city;
partying, drunk, high, and passing out.
I would get overly drunk on purpose
just so I wouldn't have to leave the host's house,
just so I can have a blanket and couch to sleep on
Just so I can have something to eat in the morning when I wake up.
Nobody found out that I was doing this.
No one knew.
Night after night,
I traded my body for shelter.
my liver for warmth,
my dignity for clean clothes.
For two months,
my biggest fear wasn't loneliness—
it was whether I'd sleep indoors,
whether I'd eat,
whether tomorrow would leave me standing.
And still—
no one came.
Not my family.
Not my closest friends.
So tell me:
if I disappeared
and the world didn't notice,
Was I ever really missed at all?
