Vic's P.o.v.

"Order number 98!", I shouted. A young girl came rushing over to the counter. She smiled at me, gave a quick thanks and left with her bag. I sighed as I checked the time. My shift was almost over.

I worked at TacoBell as much as I could during my apprenticeship at a bank. My boss here was pretty cool and understood when I couldn't always be there due to my already mentioned apprenticeship. Considering it was only the second year after high school, I had figured everything out fairly well. I had a small one-bedroom apartment in San Diego. Yes, I had moved back to where I grew up. Despite the few horrible years of high school I had spent there, it was still home and I had a lot of great memories there, too.

I got back in touch with some of my old friends and overall, I was doing fine. Jaime had moved over here with me because his dad's family lived here and he saw this as an opportunity to "explore his roots" or some shit. Jaime was a strange dude but I loved him nonetheless.

Mike had just recently graduated, too and was now getting ready to go to college. My parents were supportive of both of us and I couldn't have been more thankful for that.

I had been in a couple of relationships with guys and girls here and there, but it hadn't been anything serious. In all honesty, I was still waiting for some miracle to happen and Kellin to walk up to me and be like, "Hey, Vic. I'm sorry about high school. Let's marry." Or something.

I knew it was stupid to be so attached to someone from a high school relationship two fucking years ago. But I couldn't help it. I couldn't not think about Kellin's pale skin, soft lips and silky hair - just him in general on a daily basis. It was seriously still hurting me to be away from him.

Deep down, I knew that the chances we would ever see each other again, let alone start a new relationship were very, very slim. Still, I kept hoping. To think, that it all didn't work out because of some damn high school drama and a few manipulative bitches... Anyway, it was all irrelevant now.

I waited for my co-worker to get here before heading home.

"Honey, I'm home!", I shouted jokingly.
"Shut the fuck up I'm trying to watch this!" I quietly laughed to myself, taking my shoes off and throwing my bag onto the floor.

"Watch what?", I asked, plopping myself down next to Jaime who was sitting on the couch, leaning forward as though if he missed something, the world would end.

"Shhh!"

"I'll remind you of this the next time you get on my nerves.", I said and leaned my head on Jaime's shoulder. Whatever show he was watching ended and he turned to me, "You can talk now."

"How kind of you", I said sarcastically. He sighed and placed my head in his lap. I looked up at him questioningly.
"Something's up with you. Tell me about it.", he demanded.

I furrowed my eyebrows together in confusion, "Nothing's up with me."
Jaime rolled his eyes, "Buddy, I know you. Something is bothering you and now it's bothering me because it's bothering you. And because I care about you it bothers me when something bothers y-"

I cut him off, "Dude I get it. But I really don't know what you're talking about." He sighed again, "I can't force my help on you, but if you wanna talk, I'm here.", he touched my hair a though he was petting a dog and made me sit up, "Now, are you hungry?"

I grinned and raced him to the kitchen, painfully colliding with the counter when trying to stop. "You-", Jaime laughed, "Oh my god that was the best thing! You should've seen that!"

I grumbled, rubbing my hips.

"I hate you."
