I pouted slightly from the bed as I watched Luke pack for tour. He was leaving in a few days and I couldn't go with him because of my work schedule. He saw me pouting and came over and sat next to me.
"Don't pout princess. It's making me sad," he said gently, pulling me close to him. I cuddled into him and laid my head on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry. I'm not trying to make you sad. I'm just sad that you're leaving and I can't come. I'm gonna miss you. And it'll be lonely in the flat all alone," I replied softly. He kissed my head gently, making me smile slightly.
"I'm gonna miss you too Cait. But we're gonna be okay. We can Skype and text and call each other. As for you being alone in the flat, I was thinking...Maybe we could get a puppy. If you wanted one."
"Are you sure Luke?"
"Yeah I'm sure baby. Let's go to the store and get a puppy." I grinned up at him.
"Let's check the pound first. If we can rescue a puppy I'd rather do that," I told him jumping up from my bed and grabbing my shoes. Luke chuckled and shook his head at me.
"Whatever you want baby," he replied, getting up as well. Once we got ready, we went down to the car and drove to the local pound. Once we got there someone showed us all the puppies. There were so many cute dogs here and I wanted to save them all but I knew I couldn't. We were walking along slowly when I saw the cutest Jack Russel puppy. Her little name card was blank. All of the other puppies had names on theirs.
"Excuse me, what's this puppy's name? I asked the girl who was showing us around. She looked at the puppy I was talking about.
"Oh, she doesn't have a name yet. I don't know why."
"Is she available for adoption?" Luke asked. He knew me so well. The girl looked at some papers on a clipboard by the puppy's blank name tag.
"Looks like she is available. Would you like to meet her before you decide?"
"Yes please," I replied immediately. The girl nodded and lead us to a little room in the back. Then she left to get the puppy. She brought her in and the puppy ran straight over to me. I grinned and pet her gently. "Hi girl, how are you?" The puppy licked my face and I giggled.
"She's so cute," Luke said, smiling. I nodded in agreement as I pet her.
"She should have a name."
"What do you think her name should be?" he asked. I thought for a minute and looked at the adorable puppy who was now playing with Luke.
"Her name should be Luna," I said. Luke nodded in agreement and smiled.
"I take it we're taking her home then?"
"Yes please. I don't even want to meet any others. She's perfect." Luke nodded and we went out to the girl while I carried Luna. We filled out all the paperwork to adopt her. Once that was done we drove Luna home. Luna fell asleep as Luke drove. I smiled as I pet her. She was the most adorable puppy ever. I loved her so much already. We got her home and I decided to stay home with her while Luke went out to the pet store to get all of the supplies we needed. Luna slept soundly in my lap as I sat on the couch. I grabbed my phone and took a picture of her. I posted it to Instagram and linked it to my Twitter. I captioned it " luke_is_a_penguin and I adopted a puppy today!
