"Thank you, you know, for the..the dinner." I gulped.
I know, I seem awkward. Why, you ask? Here's what happened.
After finishing our meal of extravagantly named dishes, Louis and I walked out of the restaurant, hand in hand (just going to throw that out there). We were joking around, laughing on the fact that the girl at the door finally revealed she was a fan, and insisted on a photograph. Louis was rejoicing the fact that he won the bet, and chose to redeem his reward in the near future. I kept grumbling, and sentencing the girl to punishments which now, I am sure, are punishable crimes in some countries.
So, Louis and I are walking down the street, to our car, wondering why he isn't getting mobbed, when I see them.
No, not fans, my relatives.
My grandfather and grandmother to be exact. These oldies have literally been after my life. I stopped talking to my grandparents as soon as I got the job in London, not wanting to be in any close relations with these smothering white haired mothe-
Grandparents.
As soon as I saw them, lurking around the pop-up flower shop, I grabbed Louis' arm and pulled him into a corner. Peeking around, I saw them bending down to examine the flower arrangements placed on the pavement. I closed my eyes in frustration, and leaned on the wall. Louis simply stared at me, crossing his arms. His eyes demanded an explanation, and I think I saw fear as well.
Can't blame him.
"My grandparents are here." I sighed. "We'll need to wait for a moment."
Louis' eyes lit up. "Grandparents? I love grandparents! Why are you hiding?"
"I hate them. I hate all my relatives."
"But..why?"
"Louis William Tomlinson, shut it and wait here for five minutes." I whisper-yelled, slapping my hand on his lips to shut him up.
"There's no need to shut me up. They can't hear us anyway." Louis took my hand and pulled it away from his face. I nodded.
"I don't care, as long as I don't have to face them." I peaked at grandpa once again, but at the wrong time. He snapped his head up the moment I bent my neck to see them, and noticed me. I quickly hid again, swearing under my breath. "Shit, they saw me."
"Shiki? Is that you, love?" Came my grandfather's voice, slightly shaking but still holding it's pride.
Louis, too, tried to see them. "They're coming right this way." He informed. My eyes widened, and I palmed my face. Leave me the fudge alone.
Louis looked at me, and then looked back at them. Before I could comprehend what was happening, Louis flipped me around, my back against the street and kissed me as soon as my grandparents reached us. He kept them in sight. Snaking a hand around my waist, he pulled me closer.
"Love?"
I was completely shocked. Way too random, Louis. My arms were stiff at my side, and my body frozen. The kiss perhaps lasted only a second, just a small peck, but to me it felt like an absolute eternity.
"Leave us alone," whispered Louis, cupping my face in his warm palms.
"Oh, sorry, I thought..never mind. Carry on." Said my grandfather, and then with a hint of disgust in his voice, "The youth these days," to my grandmother.
"They're gone," Louis whispered, after a few moments, pulling back. I took in a sharp breath and immediately stepped back, stumbling slightly. Nodding, I said, "Let's go," my voice incredibly high-pitched.
"Um, I'm sorry, um, I did it so that your grandparents wouldn't recognize ya." Said Louis.
"Its..okay. Thank you."
I didn't even wait for Louis. I power-walked towards where the car was parked. Reaching it, I opened the door, and sat in the back seat. Louis slowly followed and sat at the front. For returning, Louis had asked Alberto, a security guy, to drive us home, as he felt that we might get drunk. Alberto looked at me through the rear-view mirror, then glanced at Louis. He sighed, and switched the ignition on.
"Um, Louis?" I said, after a while.
Louis turned to look at me. "Yeah?"
"Thank you, you know, for the..the dinner." I gulped.
