Once, long, long ago, there was a beautiful kingdom protected by the three Golden Goddesses. An ancient hero, with the sword of the Picori, had brought peace to this kingdom, called Hyrule. The people of this blessed kingdom held a festival each year after for this event.
Evil attacked hundreds of years later. Wicked spirits were released from their eternal prison and the holy princess of Hyrule was cursed. A hero rose up once again and took the sacred sword in hand. He traveled the world and collected the four elements, bringing power to the sword.
A terrible wind sorcerer cast darkness upon Hyrule's castle, and tried to get the sacred Light Force out of the princess. The hero defeated the wind sorcerer, and peace reigned once again.
That's how it went, at least how you knew it. Despite your parents claiming this tale to be true since the day they told you, you didn't trust that it was real. You refused to believe it. The world was nothing but ocean, so where could such a kingdom exist?
And if this kingdom supposedly had a hero that appeared in times of need, why didn't he appear many centuries ago, when darkness engulfed the land?
Of course, your parents attempted to back their stories, claiming that most of the ocean had once been land, and that the gods had flooded the land to protect the people from evil. But why believe a story that made no sense?

You stood on the deck of your ship, staring out into the vast sea and occasionally glancing at the old and wrinkled map in your hand. Various notes were on it from where you had discovered small, uninhabited islands, and the occasional island that merely hadn't been marked, the oldest note being a mark from three years ago that represented an island shaped like a pot.
The ship itself was built for one man to pilot it. The interior was small, maybe good enough for two people and enough food for a few months. There was no mast nor any cannons. The anchor for the ship was for when its sailor slept.
One hand was steering your small ship as the engine paddled it along. Seagulls cawed overhead, circling and occasionally diving for a fish, competing for a decent meal. Waves crashed against the side of the ship, rocking it as it went along on its journey, as the familar sea water smell washed over you, giving you its usual greetings. You didn't do anything except for stare ahead, keeping an eye out for your destination and checking your map.
Two days ago, on Outset Island, where you were born, you had heard about a mysterious island. The person explaining it to you said they knew nothing of where it was, but you were an explorer, and you earned money through your findings. You had the time to look for it. Sometimes, people try to sway you away from activities, saying, "Curiosity killed the cat", but you always told them that you had more wits and strength than a mouse-catching animal. Wearing a grim look throughout the whole conversation, he had went on to say that the island seemed uninhabited by humans, but monsters loved the place (he also mentioned how many monsters there were lately. Usually it was none, but some have witnessed one or two), but the person who found it had heard a voice asking if they had the "spirit gems".
When you insisted on defying his warning, you sprinkled frustration into his mood; he slammed his fist on the table, naming you as a stubborn bull. His intentions were of good will, for he was trying to keep you away the Ghost Ship. However, you didn't care about the dumb, old Ghost Ship. You doubted it existed anyway. Think logically. What kind of a ship could appear anywhere, at any time, with a fog always surrounding it? Even if it did, you wanted to see this island for yourself. Your itching desire to discover was eating at you, in a good way of course. You needed to explore it, to find out what these spirit gems were.
An hour later, you began packing for the search. You loaded a month's worth of food, water, and clothes onto your ship should you get lost at sea and need to find a place where you can resupply yourself. As people always say, "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst".
