Chapte 19- Duality

Ashley started to talk.

"Firstly, about the soldiers. The skeletons you saw, are soldiers from the machine. Normally they disintegrate in the air, but radioactivity in that room has changed their structure. About that sign in their shoulders . . . Stairs represent an alien base. This buildings are not constructed by themselves, are they?"

Anton's head started to hurt again. Ashley continued.

"Some buildings have secret stairs and a secret base underground. We just found them here and used them. But, we still know nothing about them. The reason, the technology . . . we have not found any clue. Still, we believe that they exist and they created this buildings so we could protect ourselves from all this chaos. It seems they want to put some rules here on Earth. The machine may not be controlled by them, but Aliens seem to control the soldiers. The machine, just turns back time for a lot of people. It's out of control. Humanity is just so stupid. Killing them is not the right way. Do you know what those soldiers are, coming from the machine?"

Anton could barely speak.

"No. What are they?"

"People are just afraid of them. The things coming out from the machine . . . are real soldiers from "United Peace".

Anton couldn't endure the pain in his head. He fell unconscious again. Nobody went to help him. Allan raised his voice.

"My god, he is so weak! How many times do we need to see this Ashley?"

Jenny woke up. She was not in the place she expected to be. Instead, she was staying inside a black room. She was very confused.

"Where am I? What is this place? Am I dead?"

Jenny could see light in a corner of the room. She decided to see what was going on. When she went near it, she could notice a shadow. Then she realized it was not just a shadow, it was a real person. Jenny saw his hair and his body. She was amazed from what she saw.

"Marc, is that you?"

She run to hug him.

"Honey, it's me!"

The man turned and looked at her. It was really Marc. However, his look was so cold, without emotions. At the moment Jenny could reach him, Marc pushed her back. Jenny started to cry.

"Why?! Why are you doing this? I finally found you!"

Marc slowly approached her. Jenny started to feel scared. Marc took a knife from his pocket. She stood up and run away from him. Marc started to chase her. Jenny was running for a long time but she was not feeling tired. However, he was still behind her. She could not stop crying and shouting at Marc.

"Why are you doing this?!"

Brian was standing still, scared and looking at all "himselves" he had near him. There were 5 of them and none was moving. They were all staring at Brian. At that moment, he decided to run. But when he turned back and made only a step, someone appeared before him. It was his wife. Brian realized that she was not real, just like the others, so he started to run in another direction. All other Brian-s and his wife were following him. Strangely, Brian was not feeling tired.

Jason had transformed into his true form again. In front of him, Derek was holding the hands of Jenny. Brian was also next to her. They look both hypnotized. Derek spoke.

"She is so beautiful. Marc can really make good choices. Anyway we won't need her for long. Come on Jason. We have one more last thing to do."

Jason did the strange movement he did before out of Brian's house. His hands actually created a hole inside the factory. It looked like a portal. They all walked inside it.

The doctor was now relaxing in his second floor. He was sitting on a chair in his balcony. Greg was drinking his third cocktail. It was his third "Long Island Iced Tea". The view outside was so sad. The sky was gray and it looked like it would rain soon. He decided to turn back in his room and take something to eat. He thought that nothing would happen to Marc for quite a long time. Suddenly a loud noise came from downstairs. Greg run to see what was happening. The front door of his house had fallen. There was one man staying there. Although the door was down, Greg was happy to see him.

"Hey, Brian! Welcome! You didn't need to destroy the door . . . or, I guess it was just too old."

But Brian was not responding. His eyes looked strange. Suddenly another person appeared behind him. The doctor felt shocked.

"Jenny? Why did you come so early? What the hell is going on?"

Jenny and Brian spoke at the same time.

"We are not here for you. We want Marc."

Their voice-coordination was so creepy, Greg decided to run.

After a few minutes Ashley saw that Anton was making strange movements.

"He is acting strange! Something is happening!"

Marc woke up. He felt like he knew everything what was going on. At the same time, Anton woke up too. He felt like he could control his two bodies at the same time. They both stood up. Anton was looking happy, while Marc rushed outside "Operation Room". Anton talked to his team.

"I love this! So this is what I can do!"

Then he suddenly became serious.

"Marc is in trouble. However, I am helping him."

The team looked at him confused.

Greg was now reaching the exit and he could not run anymore. But, someone in front of him stopped Greg.

"You are not going anywhere."

That was Jason, who was transformed into Jack. At that moment, Marc saw Greg begging for help. The doctor saw Marc running to help him.
