Anton looked directly into Damian's eyes.
"You . . . control the machine?! All this time . . . it was you!"
He grabbed Damian's coat.
"You have almost destroyed the world, and now . . . you ask me to join you?!"
Damian's eyes were cold like ice. He didn't care about the fact that Anton was shaking him.
"You were lost in Derek's illusion. Who knows for how many years you would stay there. I saved you. Your brain was damaged, you had lost everything. I turned your memories back. You are my product. Without me, you are just a dead man."
"What are you talking about? Tell me where the machine is! Now!"
Anton stopped shaking Damian. The white coat was almost torn apart from Anton's big force. Damian moved away and slowly walked to another room. Inside, Anton noticed the same chamber he used himself. The machine was turned off and some dead machine-soldiers were on the floor. It seemed they couldn't endure the pressure. Anton's anger was only increasing.
"How did you get this?"
Damian decided to sit in a chair.
"You fell in coma. None was there to protect it. But, I was a good man that time."
He looked up.
"I was so obsessed with the law and the right things in that world. So I decided to tell the police. They took it, but they couldn't handle the machine. Many things in my life were going wrong, I couldn't feel like myself even though I could teleport in whatever era or time I wanted. It was just too boring. The machine didn't place you to the war. It placed you to the same forest as always. You became part of "A Syndicate". Such a useless thing. Then Derek got you and I decided to act. You couldn't wake up for 4 years, because you were not ready to fulfill my experiments. After I made you as I wanted, I put you in that war and started my plan to awaken your new abilities. That's pretty much your story."
Anton couldn't endure the pain that Damian was causing just by telling those stories. He hit the chamber and the great force of his fist crushed it to pieces. Then Anton turned back. Surprisingly, Damian was still not angry. Anton shouted.
"Enough! Let's end this now! I will never join you!"
Damian stood up. The background suddenly changed. The lab disappeared and they were now staying on a hot surface of burning lava of a dying planet. Damian turned at Anton talking ironically.
"Bravo . . . now there is no machine. What should I do now? That chamber was useless. I only needed that for my plan, but it seems it is over. Since you don't want to join me then you leave me no choice . . . Human soldiers decided to put some of my machine-soldiers inside their radioactive rooms."
He laughed.
"They did such a great favor to me! By changing their DNA, they didn't disintegrate, but turned into skeletons instead. Which leads us to this . . ."
The ground started to shake and hundreds of skeletons were emerging from beneath the surface. Damian had a smile on his face.
"Let the show begin!"
Anton needed concentration.
. . .
Marc's father was now lying in his bed together with Marc. His day couldn't have gone worse. Marc was not reacting. His eyes were closed. It looked like Anton couldn't control him anymore. Young Marc was now a soulless body.
. . .
Brian was staying in a bar and playing cards. Greg turned back home and found Jack staying next to the door with Jenny's body. Greg shouted angry.
"She made it?! Why did you let her? Now both of them may die!"
Jack seemed to care less about that case. He left without talking. Greg was anxious. He placed Jenny on another bed next to Marc. Greg looked at the monitors and she seemed healthy. He checked Marc's body living functions as always. There was no change. The monitors were still showing normal conditions. Greg was very tired from work and decided to sleep without knowing that the next day Marc would no longer be alive.
. . .
Jenny had been walking for a long time inside that forest.
"I am lost. What is this place? I was in the chamber and then . . . "
Suddenly three people appeared in front of her just like in a magic trick. One of them was short and was smoking a cigar. There was a woman who looked very serious and a funny looking man next to her. The woman spoke.
"What is your name? Welcome to "A Syndicate"! We will explain everything. Just follow us."
Jenny was so confused.
"A what?"
. . .
Anton was sweating against Damian. Those skeletons had no end. Even though he was able to create a barrier and kill them using gravity. He still needed to move a lot, because Damian was changing the ground all the time. He needed a strategy, but his anger had invaded him so much, he was only thinking how to revenge. Anton thought a strategy. He started to change the background in his favor. It changed from a dying planet to another dimension where Anton could create objects to hit Damian, or stop him. But it was still useless. No matter how many strategies he was using, Anton couldn't even scratch Damian. Suddenly they both felt like there was no space at all. The skeletons disappeared and they were both staying in the air looking at themselves. A strong light looked like was approaching very fast. It was so strong both of them needed to close their eyes. In a second, Anton heard a voice.
"There are more than you think. 5 isn't enough. Think about it."
The strong light then disappeared and Damian's background of lava was back. The skeletons started to follow Anton again. But this time Anton knew what to do.
