Diana could feel her heart pounding in her throat as she slowly approached the door, Pippa trailing behind, obviously curious.
Sirius and Harry had remained in Harry's room. Sirius was well aware that this moment was one meant to be shared with the mother and daughter duo.
Resting her hand on the door handle, she took a deep breath before opening it and stepping inside the room. Pippa hesitantly followed and was gobsmacked when she noticed what kind of room it was.
The nursery walls were painted a soft pink, a darker tint spelling out her name above the wooden crib. The floor was a soft, white grayish color and toys still littered the floor, still in the same spot she had left them more than a decade ago.
Diana watched her daughter take it all in, the living space she had built for her daughter but had somehow frozen in time. It brought tears to her eyes to see her little girl almost grown up in the room that was always meant to be hers.
"The day I brought you away," Diana started, yet needed to take a deep breath before she continued so she wouldn't burst into tears. "I slept here, on the floor, I couldn't believe what I'd done," a sob still managed to escape her throat and Pippa turned to her with a heart broken look in her eyes.
Darting forward, she embraced her mother tightly, tears pricking in her own eyes.
"It's okay," she whispered into the crook of her neck.
"No," Diana breathed. "No, it's not okay, I should have never given you up," she mumbled into the girls hair.
"No, no mom it's alright," Pippa insisted, pulling back a little to look into her eyes. "I'm here, I'm here now and we are together," she continued. "Everything is alright, everything is going to be alright."
Diana stared down at her for a moment before a watery smile formed on her face and she pulled her back into the hug. "Goodness, I am so proud of you, my darling."
"Told you they'd be crying," Sirius entered the room, probably having been impatient and coming to take a look in the old room, Harry curiously trailing behind him.
Pippa whipped around, giving him an angry glare that held really no malicious intent and moved to prod at his side. "Way to ruin the moment," she jabbed.
"Hey!" He complained. "Watch it, trouble," he warned and she just giggled.
"Oi, no fighting," Diana warned them and they grinned at her, both in such a similar way it left her speechless.
"Is this Pip's old nursery?" Harry asked, looking around curiously.
When Diana didn't answer, Sirius spoke up. "It is, I remember the day we started assembling this room," he looked around at the rather spacious room, considering it was meant for a baby, or a toddler, eventually.
"I remember going to that muggle store to get everything," Diana had finally snapped out of it and dried her eyes.
"Oh, yeah," Sirius peaked up. "What was it again? Ikea?" he asked with a way to big smile on his face.
"It was," Diana confirmed. "It was a mistake taking all of you, I have never seen such chaos," she shook her head as she thought back to the day, yet couldn't help the fond smile growing on her face.
"Remember when we lost Pete?" Sirius asked with a grin and Diana giggled.
"Oh, like it was yesterday," they chuckled at the memories going through their head, not noticing the small tension between both Pippa and Harry at the mention of the name.
They stood in the room for a few more minutes, the tension between Pippa and Harry disappeared, when Sirius started bragging about putting together the crib and Diana had to remind him that Marlene had to eventually help him, because of how much he was struggling.
