Karkat wasn't the only one searching for the boy of his dreams. John kept looking too. He wanted a piece of Karkat with him so he tattooed his symbol onto his shoulder. He found a weapon with the same symbol carved into the blade. He knew it was Karkat's. And he knew it was too late. He was already dead.
The two of them kept looking though. They wouldn't stop. Because they knew that they were worth fighting for. So that's exactly what they were going to do.
