CHAPTER XI

I opened my eyes and looked at my alarm clock. 6:58 AM. Good. I still got 2 minutes para bumangon sa kama. Okay. Sanay na ko ng umaalis sa kama ko ng 7 am, tapos maliligo and magbibihis for 45 minutes. Kakain ng breakfast for 15 minutes tapos aalis ng bahay ng 8:20 para pumunta sa cafe since 9am siya nag oopen.

Ewan ko. Ayoko ng may oras akong nasasayang kaya lagi akong nagpplan bago mag act. Hay. It’s our first day of living together and I can hear the clanging of plates and utensils below. He’s cooking. Good thing he’s easy to deal with.

I got up at the sound of my alarm clock and headed to the bathroom to take a bath. I put my uniform on and grabbed the towel to dry my hair. I climbed down the stairs and I swear I can already smell the bacon in the air. Nice one Theo. I think we’ll get along just fine. I headed straight to the dining area, not bothering my wet hair and immediately sat down.

I continued to dry my hair then I saw him arrive from the kitchen. He’s holding a plate of bacons in his right hand and a pitcher of orange juice in his left hand..and he’s wearing my mom’s pink apron.

I breathed deeply. The sight of him wearing an apron is just so new to me. No, it’s not that. There’s something else.

We stared at each other for a second and I shifted my gaze to the table. I stood up and hanged my towel above the other chair and slightly arranged my hair. I looked at him but he just stood there. "Hoy. Mukha kang nakakita ng multo." I said to him tapos umupo na ko. Bigla siyang tumalikod pagkasabi ko nun. Tapos nagtimpla siya ng coffee.

"Hindi ka man lang ba magsusuklay?" He asked.

"Maya na pag nakakain na ko. Pinapatuyo ko pa e. Tara kain." sabi ko ng hindi tumitingin sa kanya. Umupo siya tapos magkaharap kami. He prepared eggs, bacons, rice and bread. He gave me coffee instead of orange juice. Impressive. A coffee makes my day and because he made me one, the guy deserves a compliment.

“Impressive.” I complimented him without even looking at him, instead, I looked at the mouthwatering bacons in front of me. What? I complimented him. I don’t do that a lot!

“Thanks. I asked Serena what to prepare. I don’t wanna wake you up-- ” I took a bite and  looked at him with no expression and he stopped in the middle of his sentence.

“What? Hindi masarap?” he asked.

“It’s fine. You just talk too much.” I replied and ate my bacons.

“Oh. Right. Sorry.” He said but he did not sound offended. He’s killing me with kindness. It made me feel guilty but I just..ugh. Sorry. I’m just used to eating alone. The sudden change kinda pisses me off but I’m restraining myself. He didn’t do anything wrong.

"Alam ko na yung isa kong condition" he said out of the blue. I stopped chewing and looked at him. Agad agad?! Kinabahan ako sa kung ano mang sasabihin niya. Pano pag mahirap pala tapos di ko kayang gawin? Bahala na. Napalunok ako tapos napatingin ako sa kanya.

"O-okay. Ano yon." I said and my voice lowered. Kinakabahan talaga ako. Sorry.

“Oh. It’s not my condition. It’s something you have to do.” He said. What?! Why would I have to do something for him.

“No. Why would I do that?!” I yelled in protest but then he arched his brows and I understood. Tss. “Okay. What do you want?”

"I- I want you...to get me a job.” A job? Tapos nakahinga na ko ng malalim. Buti naman! Haaay.
