My hand caught in the yellow envelope as I slid it to retrieve it's contents. I pulled out a folder with the word Cyclone scrawled across the tab. I laid the folder on his mahogany desk and pulled it open. Picture after picture was repulsive. Printed photos of decapitated heads with they're bodies strewn on a street. Pictures of starved children, over and over. A picture of a teenage boy sitting down with no shirt on - his skin stretched over his skin tightly. His face was turned towards the camera with a sullen expression. His face was sunken in, bags under his eyes, bruises on his uncovered arms. The next amount of pictures got too visual. Little children huddled in a what looked like a shed, older adults being tortured, slain, and starved. All of them wore next to nothing of clothing. Scraps held onto their boney limbs. My breath caught in my throat as I flipped to the next photo. - A little girl, probably only four years old, with such big brown eyes, staring up into the lens of the camera. She was dirty and malnourished. Her curls greasy and short. Her pink lips were stretched across her face. A dirty, pink gown took over her small figure. The little girl had tears running down her face as she tightly clutched a dirty teddy bear. But, what was most appalling in the photo was the gun pressed to her temple.
Tears spilled over as I clutched onto Harry's desk for support. I sat down in his chair and put the photo's up, having seen enough. I put the little girl's photo in my pocket, something causing me to keep it near me. Why did Harry have these in his office? I gathered a deep breath and tucked the envelope back in his desk. I pushed it closed and rested my hands on his desk. I rubbed the tears out of my eyes and pursed my lips, turning to his computer. Harry had left in a hurry and hadn't turned off his computer so as soon as I moved the mouse, the monitor flicked to life.
I moved the cursor over to his documents and clicked on them. Searching through his documents I clicked on photos and once again, saw the repulsive photos. I clicked through the new photos, the photos looking like they were getting older and less quality. I saw he had a tab open and it was his email.
There were three emails in his inbox and as I clicked on them. One was from a "Rodge" to Harry.
Let me get this straight... you plan on using your MATE to get an heir... then just ABANDON her? That's low, Harold, even for you.
Harry: Well... I know it sounds bad but she's human. What's the point in keeping her around after she gives me what I want?
Rodge: Look, Harold, have you even thought of the kid? I know you don't like humans because their weak but if you have a child with Bay you'll be having a Half. The one thing you have had your life dedicated to killing... It wouldn't work out.
Harry: It'll still have Alpha blood. He'll be stronger than any other Half. He'll mate with a Werewolf... and the blood line is back in order. It's that simple.
Roger: Whatever floats your boat, boss.
My mind raced but one thing was clear, Harry was a murderer and a manipulator. My skin crawled where he had touched me earlier. My eyes blurred with unshed tears as I realized what Darwin and my father had said was true. Harry was heartless. Harry was a killer. He was cold hearted. He was ruthless.
He wasn't the man I thought I knew... He had lied and deceived me. He could care less about me. He was just using me to basically breed with... then what? Would I end up like one of these unfortunate victims? That's why he hadn't got rid of Cindy, she was for show and I was being used. I sighed, resting my head on the cool mahogany.
Why did I come in here? What possessed me to enter through the doorway? My cell phone vibrated in my pocket and I remembered.
Darwin. His message had spiked a curiosity in me.
