"And you're totally sure you guys didn't have sex?" I asked Ashton.

"Yes, well that's what she told me." Ashton replied.

"What did Luke and Michael think after you told them?" I asked.

"They seemed to be convinced but Luke looked like he was a little mad." Ashton told me.

"Okay, well be careful dude." Calum said, "I've got to get to class."
.....
The whole day, I kept thinking about Ashton's situation. I believe him when he says he didn't, and his back story made somewhat sense. But I don't know what to do with Alex. She's practically my best friend, how could I not tell her?

"Hey Cal." Serinity greeted me.

"Hey babe." I replied as I pulled out her chair.

"Have you seen Alex around?" She asked.

I shook my head in response, "I actually haven't."

Mrs. Hemmings walked through the door the same time Luke did. They were probably talking to each other in the hall. Luke looked different, he looked sad. He's been acting different, and so has Mrs. Hemmings. During class, I zoned off deciding whether I should tell Alex or not. She deserves to know, but it could hurt her. But keeping it from her could hurt her more. This is such a difficult situation.

I glanced over to Serinity. She looked really cute when she was concentrated on something. I thought about the memories we shared in Hawaii and realized we hadn't been on a real date. I ripped a piece of paper and passed it towards her. I tried my best to slip it to her while Mrs. Hemmings wasn't paying attention, but she caught me.

"Note passing Mr. Hood? Mind if I take a look at this note." She said as she took the note from Serinity's desk.

Mrs. Hemmings opened up the piece of paper, "Would you like to go on a date with me Serene?" She read aloud. I could feel all eyes on me, my face turning red and hot.

"Oh, um. I'm sorry. Do this on your own time next time." Mrs. Hemmings said before handing the note back to me. I heard a gouge escape from Serinity's mouth. God, I'm such an idiot.

Thankfully, class was soon coming to end. I anticipated the bell and once it rung, I dashed out of class. I went straight to my locker. As I jammed my books into my locker, Serinity approached me.

"Yes, I'll go on a date with you." She smiled.

I pulled her into a hug, "I'll set up the whole thing okay? I want to surprise you." I told her. Serinity nodded then we made our way to the cafeteria.

"Hey Luke." I greeted, taking a seat across from him.

"Hi." He replied.

"What's wrong? You look awful." Serinity said.

"Jee, thanks." Luke retorted. "Have you guys seen Alex or Ashton?"

"I saw Ashton this morning, but I haven't seen Alex." I answered.

"Do you think Ashton told her?" Luke asked.

"I don't think he did. But I've been wanting to." I told him.

"Guys, what are you talking about?" Serinity butted in.

"Should we tell her?" Luke asked.

"Yes, yes you should tell me." Serinity said.

"Not you. Alex." Luke mumbled.

"Yeah. We should." I said.

After school, Luke and I drove to Alex's house. As Luke pulled up in her driveway I noticed an unfamiliar car, beside Mindy's black Ford Focus. We walked to the door and waited patiently after ringing her doorbell.

I heard feet shuffling around and soft voices, finally Alex opened the door. Her face was wet with tears, her eyes looked bloodshot, and it looked like she's been like that for hours.

"What's wrong Clark?" Luke immediately asked taking her into a hug.

Alex hugged him back and sniffled a few times, "My birth parents are here. And they want me to go with them."

My eyes instantly widened and I felt my mouth drop, "What? Your birth parents? Like your real ones?" And go where? Alex, you can't leave me!" I wailed.

Alex released her arms from Luke's body and motioned us to come inside. Luke and I followed her to her living room where we saw Mindy sitting across from a man and women and a little girl and boy, who was probably Alex's parents.

"Guys this is Kristin and Robert my parents." Alex mumbled. Luke and I introduced ourselves as we took a seat next to Alex. The little girl and boy were probably the kids of Kristin and Robert. "Oh and this is Delilah and Thomas, my little brother and sister. They're twins." She said.

"His name is Thomas? That's my middle name." I commented.

It felt like hours before Kristin and Robert left with their kids. We talked about where they lived, how they found Alex, Delilah and Thomas, and we learned almost everything about Alex's family. Luke still wanted to tell Alex about Ashton's situation but I felt hesitant. After seeing Alex in her current state, telling her about Ashton would only make her feel worse. But Luke insisted that we told her.

"Alex, we need to tell you something." Luke began, "It's about Ashton and Bryana."

If it was possible, I would say Alex's facial expression became ten times worse than when we first saw her.

"It was on the night we went out, we ran into Bryana, and not to kick you while you're down or anything but, they slept in the same room. He claims he didn't do it with her, and I'm sure he didn't. But we just wanted to tell you because we thought it'd be best to tell you." Luke said.

Alex kept quiet for a long while then finally said, "Can you guys hear that?"

Luke and I exchanged glances hearing nothing but silence. Luke shook his head, "Are you going crazy Clark? It's like a library in here."

"Hear what Alex?" I asked.

"The sound of my heart breaking. Shattering into broken pieces." Alex answered.
