Chapter-26

Jungkook lifted his eyes to Yoongi then to Annie. She had moved closer to Yoongi, her hand was gripping his arm. She was trying to stop him from escalating things further. But that didn't matter. What Jungkook saw wasn't caution. It was a concern. Her eyes were fixed on Yoongi, looking at his face as if he was the one who might break.

And something inside Jungkook snapped quietly. His hand curled into a tight fist at his side. "What the hell... why is he back?" He had imagined her alone. Free from that chapter. He had told himself Yoongi was a closed story. But standing there now, watching her hold onto him like that, It felt like the past crashing violently into the present......."It's happening again. Once again.....that man makes me invisible to her"

Annie's eyes widened, the breath in her throat caught as if the air itself had turned solid when Jungkook's fist was tangled deep in Yoongi's collar. The fabric bunched harshly in his grip as he yanked him forward, like he was trying to drag something invisible out of him. But Yoongi didn't react.

He just stood there, shoulders relaxed, head slightly tilted, as if Jungkook's fury was nothing. Jungkook's jaw clenched so tightly it ached. He knew, he knew he had no right to be angry. No reason to be like this but Yoongi always dragged him back.

Back to the version of himself he thought he had buried. Every time he looked at him, it was like staring into a mirror that reflected everything Jungkook had tried to erase, his failure, his weakness. Yoongi's lips twitched just slightly as a smirk formed on his lips. Enough to send something jagged tearing through Jungkook's chest.

Yoongi's eyes were half hidden beneath messy strands of hair but Jungkook could see that quiet, piercing mockery. Like Yoongi didn't even need to try. Like Jungkook's anger was predictable. Pathetic. Like he already knew how this would end. Jungkook's grip tightened unconsciously as fabric dug deeper into his palm. His heart pounded violently, not just with anger but with something worse.

"Are you crazy?! Leave him!" Annie's voice echoed before her hand wrapped around Jungkook's arm, trying to pull him back, but he barely felt it at first. His world had narrowed to Yoongi's eyes, those infuriatingly calm, unreadable eyes that somehow said everything. Only when Annie's grip tightened did something snap. Jungkook sucked in a breath and shoved Yoongi away.

Yoongi staggered half a step and then straightened calmly. Still wearing that faint, infuriating smirk which Jungkook couldn't stand. Couldn't stand how unaffected he was. Couldn't stand how easily he unraveled him. He turned abruptly before his gaze crashed into Annie's. And that hurt more than anything. Because she wasn't shocked anymore. She looked disappointed....No but disdainful. "What do you think you're doing? What are you trying to do?"

Jungkook opened his mouth but nothing came out. Because he didn't know. Or maybe he did and that was the problem. Her eyes hardened and when she spoke again, it felt like something inside him cracked. "You haven't changed, Jungkook." And suddenly, all the anger drained out of him, leaving behind something hollow and terrifying. Because the way her words echoed in his head. They sounded exactly like the voice he'd been trying to silence for so long.

Jungkook felt like a dagger being twisted in his guts, his throat tightened. He inhaled through nostrils while tightening his lips. Then his eyes flickered toward Yoongi who hadn't moved much, but the subtle shift was enough. His hand came up to the side of his neck before he tilted his head slightly and cracked it before he straightened and smirked.

Jungkook blinked calmly before he turned away. His hand found the handle as fingers tightened around it for a fraction of a second before he pulled it open and stepped out. The door shut behind him with a dull, final click and Annie's head turned immediately as soft sigh slipped from her lips before she looked back at Yoongi.
