Annie turned around toward the vibrating phone. “Wait, I’ll be ba-” Before she could finish, the door shut with a muted thud. She blinked, startled, turning around slowly as Yoongi stood behind her with one palm resting against the door above her shoulder. “Why did you close the door? I need to pick up the call”

She said with knitted brows with confusion. He leaned in slightly and looked at her silently making her somehow nervous  “You’re not asking me anything. I’m……insecure, By the fact that you're again in touch with your ex. I won’t pretend I’m not uneasy. I’m anxious too. My mind is full of questions”

He stepped closer and she instinctively leaned back as her spine touched the door. But there was no fear, only the familiar tension that always tied them together in moments like this. “Why isn’t she asking me From anything? Why is Jungkook calling you? When did you two start talking again? How were you……when I wasn’t around?”

He exhaled shakily, opening his hand against the door and sighed before he collapsed his head on her shoulder helplessly making her frown. “But asking you those things recklessly won’t help. Dumping all of that on you won’t fix us. You’re the one who taught me how to communicate. You’re the one who always tries to clear misunderstandings”

“So I’ll wait, maybe not today…..maybe tomorrow. So if you're not ready to ask or tell me anything, just answer me one thing that atleast puts me at ease….. atleast little” Slowly, he closed his eyes and whispered only audibly to her.

“Do you…hate me?” Annie stayed silent as her back pressed against the cold wooden door while placing her chin onto his shoulder. She blinked, slowly as if his words hadn’t rippled through her chest moments earlier. There was no anger in her face, no panic. Just an unsettling calmness, a calmness that made his stomach twist because he couldn’t read her anymore, couldn’t predict what she was thinking.

When Annie finally spoke, her voice was devastating in its calmness. “Yes… I hate you so much” she let out softly and somehow that hurt more. He didn’t flinch nor defend himself, he had never been one for loud reactions but felt shattered but he stayed still.

Then she moved and her arms slid around his waist as though afraid he might disappear again if she didn’t anchor him there. The contact startled him more than her words had. His body stiffened instinctively at first, the years of distance still lingered in muscle memory but she didn’t let go and said.

“That’s what I always imagined I’d say to you,” she continued before her cheek rested lightly against his chest. “But… I think I can’t” She exhaled shakily and he felt the warmth of her breath through his shirt. “You’re back. That’s enough.”  Yoongi blinked, and this time his composure cracked just slightly. The blankness in his eyes wavered, replaced by something deeper. Relief. Guilt. Gratitude. Fear. Slowly, almost hesitantly, his arms came around her.

He pulled her closer, as if he were trying to close the space that time had carved between them. His fingers fisted gently into the fabric at her back, holding her like she was something sacred.

He buried his face into the curve of her neck, breathing her in. “I’ll tell you everything,” he whispered and the words brushed against her skin like a vow. Annie’s small smile faltered. For a moment, she had let herself simply feel his warmth, his presence.

Her fingers tightened in the back of his shirt. She was scared. Scared of what he had done. Scared that the truth might hurt more than the silence had. But more than that, she was scared of losing him again. She closed her eyes and drew in a steadying breath and nodded while he tightened his hold around her.

After awhile :

The sound of running water was heard from the bathroom where Yoongi had disappeared minutes earlier, leaving Annie alone in the room. She reached for her phone to check the call before the screen lit up in her palm. And her breath caught. 53 missed calls. All from Jungkook. Her eyes widened as if the screen had physically struck her. For a split second, her vision blurred, not from tears, but from the sudden rush of adrenaline that flooded her veins.
