Jimin could clearly see the sadness in Tae's eyes and understood exactly what he meant.
"Shut up! If you ever say that again, I'll tell Jungkook ... then you can keep fighting with him on this topic," Jimin warned.
Hearing this, Tae burst out laughing. Seeing him smile, Jimin said, "Alright, fine. But don't you think you shouldn't be discussing such complicated things with me right now? I am pregnant, you know."
Tae went quiet at Jimin's remark and didn't say much else. After talking for a while, Jimin asked Tae to head downstairs with him.
Tae accompanied him, but as soon as they reached the bottom of the stairs, Tae's eyes widened in shock. Jungkook's mom was sitting right there.
Seeing her in their home, Tae whispered to Jimin, "What is she doing here?"
"Let's go find out what's going on," Jimin replied.
As they approached, everyone's attention turned to Tae and Jimin. Grandma looked at Jimin and said, "Jimin, come sit down."
Both Tae and Jimin took a seat. Looking at Tae, Jungkook's mom asked, "How are you, Tae?"
"I'm fine," Tae replied briefly.
He was still confused and kept staring at her. Sensing what was going through his mind, she asked, "What is it, Tae? What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing, Auntie," Tae said. He was scanning the room for Jungkook, but he was nowhere to be found. Tae immediately realized that Jungkook had no idea about this visit, so he quickly pulled out his phone to message him.
Jia was speaking very politely, but she was also trying to gauge the reason behind this unexpected visit.
Finally, Jungkook's mom spoke up. "Actually, there is a reason why I'm here. I was thinking that since Tae and Jungkook have finished their studies, shouldn't we start thinking about their future? I'm sure you all understand what I mean...?"
Understanding the implication, Soobin said, "But they are still quite young, and they still have to complete their post-graduation. What's the point of thinking about all this so early?"
"True, but we can at least get them engaged," she suggested.
The family was taken aback, unsure of how to respond. Soobin looked toward Tae, trying to read his mind and see how he felt about it. It was no secret that Tae and Jungkook loved each other, so the family had no objection to the engagement; they just wanted to ensure it was what Tae wanted.
Meanwhile,
Jimin whispered to Tae, "What do you want to do, Tae?"
"How should I know? I don't understand why she's suddenly so desperate for me and Jungkook to get married. We could have thought about this later, at a relaxed pace."
"I don't know why, but I feel like this is happening because you are Yoongi's brother," Jimin whispered, analyzing the situation.
"I mean, you told me how she treated you like a middle-class boy in the beginning. Now that she knows who you really are, she probably wants to make you her son-in-law as soon as possible."
"Yeah, you're right... it makes sense now," Tae agreed. "I'm only giving her respect because she's Jungkook's mom. I just messaged him, and he's completely clueless about her being here."
Jimin listened intently. Then, Grandma spoke to the guest. "You have a point. Both children like each other, so there's no problem with an engagement. However, we would still like to discuss this with Yoongi first."
