Chapter Sixty-Five: Tying The Knot

Mark

I pulled the tie up closer to my neck, proceeding to then brush out the creases of my suit before stepping back from the mirror. Wade, who was standing behind me with a goofy grin, nodded his head in approval.

"Ten out of ten would bang," Wade winked, causing Bob to laugh.

I laughed nervously. "Thanks, Wade, you weirdo."

Tom stepped through the door, his beard and hair neatly groomed. Behind him stood Felix and Jack, who had both flown over to Cincinnati for the wedding. "Hey guys. You all ready to go?"

Wade looked across at me and nodded. With a heavy breath, I nodded also. "Yeah."

"Y'nervous?" Jack asked as we stepped out of the hotel room. I scoffed.

"Of course I am, ya dingus," I shook my head. I raised my hand, raising an eyebrow as I noticed how shaky it was. "Look how much I'm shaking, jeez."

"Chill out, Mark. Everything's gonna be alright," Bob assured Mark, patting his shoulder comfortingly.

"I hope so. I can't help but just shit bricks, though. I mean, I'm getting married. Remember how nervous both of you were?" I nodded towards Wade and Bob.

"Well, yeah, but we were nervous for no reason. There was nothing to worry about," Wade chuckled.

I looked over to Felix. "Are you ever planning on getting married?"

"Uh.. I don't know," he rubbed the back of his neck uneasily. "I mean, I want to, but Marzia doesn't. Not yet, anyway."

"Oh," I responded shyly. "I'm sorry about that, buddy."

"Why? I mean, we're still going to be together. It doesn't make much difference, right? Just a pair of rings and a couple of papers signed," he said, almost darkly. Jack frowned at him.

"Don't be negative, dude. Everything will turn out alright between you two, yeah?" Jack comforted him.

"Yeah." Felix agreed shakily, still seeming very uncertain about the whole thing.

"Hey, maybe the ceremony today will make her change her mind," I offered with a shrug, not really sure what to say to him.

"Maybe."

"Sean!" Luna squealed, greeting Jack outside of the hotel. She ran over to him and hugged him tightly, her hair brushing underneath his chin. I couldn't wait to be able to do that to Ellie. It had been three days since we'd even spoke, as we'd vowed to have some time apart before we got married, and I was itching to grab her. "Hey, Mark. You nervous? That's a stupid question. Of course you are."

"Where's my mom?" I asked suddenly, eyes scanning the crowd of people as I walked into the venue. I was immediately greeted with bright flashes of light, telling me that the photographers were already very active.

"She's sitting at the front," Luna told them, swishing her red, satin dress around her legs. "Isn't this dress beautiful? God, being a bridesmaid is so cool."

"Nerd," Sean laughed.

I made my way to the front, leaving those two behind. As soon as my mom saw me, she stood up and quickly wrapped her arms around me. She placed her hands on my shoulder, brushing off a strand of hair and readjusting my collar.

"Mom, stop," I laughed, brushing her hands off.

"I'm sorry, Mark. I can't help it," she smiled a little, tears glinting in her eyes. "My baby's getting married."
