19 Years Later

Grayson POV

"No Kol! That's mine!" I shout as I attempt to reach for the toy soldier my twin brother took from me. He's holding the toy above his head, way out of my reach. "Give it back!"

"Make me," Kol teases.

I get angry and ball my tiny fist. "I hate you!" Kol laughs at me and I run out of our room and go to find mommy. Despite being very upset I take my time down the stairs because I haven't fully yet been able to go up and down them.

Mommy is standing in the foyer greeting daddy, who just got home from work. I run my head right into her legs and squeeze my arms around her knees. "Woah! Gray? Baby what's wrong?" She pulls me off and kneels to my level in her light green sundress.

I hadn't realized I was crying until she started to wipe the tears from my face. "Kol took my toy," I grip a fistful of her flowy dress. "We were only playing mommy," Kol says from behind me. He's so mean to me when mommy isn't around. I don't like it.

"Shut up! I hate you!" I explode and turn my head to him.

Mommy grips my shoulders and directs my attention back to her, but it's daddy who speaks. "Hey." I look up at the very tall, sometimes scary man and he slides his hands in his pockets. "Don't say that to your brother."

"B-but he... I don't like him. I don't want him here." I mutter, poking out my bottom lip. "Grayson Ellis, don't ever say that about your brother. He's your twin, he'll always be here." That's what I don't like.

"You should never think that about him, do you understand? You would be very sad one day to find he's gone." Mommy says softly. I tuck my lip back in and rub my knuckles over my eyes. "You should learn to tolerate everybody."

I shake my head excessively.

"No!" I wrap my arms tightly around her neck, "I only like you mommy." She chuckles a bit then rubs my back in the soothing circles I like and that always makes me sleepy. "What about daddy?" She asks.

I look up over her shoulder at him staring down at me. He's wearing his suit. He looks scary when he wears it. Without it he looks like Kol. Daddy raises an eyebrow and tilts his head at me.

"Fine." I grumble.

"Now what about your brother?"

I shake my head and squeeze her. Mommy uses her pointer finger and pokes my side making me jerk and let out a yelp. She turns my body around and Kol is walking up to me.

He opens his palm to my toy soldier and says, "Sorry little brother. I only wanted to play with you." His hair is in a funny way. Sort of like daddy's when he first wakes up. And I hate when he calls me little brother.

Mommy nudges me, causing me to step forward. Slowly I take the toy back and hold it firmly. "It's okay."

"Now hug." Daddy says. And mommy pushes me again right into Kol's arms. Then she giggled and held us both, making us laugh with her. "Oh my boys."

She kissed both of our heads and I didn't feel angry anymore. I really do like mommy more than Kol and daddy. Sometimes more than our doggy Silas, but I never tell her that. "Hey, what about me?" Daddy clears his throat.

Mommy stands up with a gasp. "You're right. Boys, how could we forget daddy? How about... we tickle him!" She and Kol pounce on daddy and he lets them. I joined in with Kol attacking his lower stomach while laughing. We tickled daddy for a long while and I remember going to sleep very happy.

I love my mommy and daddy, even Kol when he isn't being mean to me. I don't want anything bad to happen to them.
