Ch.40

Katniss's Pov

Today I have a doctors appointment to check on the baby. I'm getting dressed right now waiting for Peeta. He is in the shower.

We have about thirty minutes until we have to go.

I go downstairs and Peeta comes down not three minutes after me.

"Good morning." He says kissing me. "And good morning to you my little baby." He says lifting my shirt up and kissing my, for now, flat stomach.

"Can you make me and baby here some breakfast please?" I ask oh so sweetly.

"Of course I can." He says. He walks into the kitchen and makes us breakfast.

We eat it quickly and then walk the five to ten minutes to the hospital.

"Katniss Mellark." I say to the lady at the receptionists desk.

"Okay the doctor will be with you shortly." She says.

"Thank you." I say.

We walk in and sit down in the waiting room.

"I wonder how far along you are?" Peeta wonders.

"Well it's been almost two months since our wedding night so I'd say about two months." I laugh.

"Yeah I guess that you're right." He says.

"Just like always." I smirk.

"Yeah okay." He says rolling his eyes.

"Katniss Mellark." I hear my name being called.

I stand up and drag Peeta with me. The nurse leads us to a room.

"If you'll just wait on here the doctor will be with you in a second." She says.

"Okay thank you." I say.

I look over at Peeta and he looks terrified.

"Peeta what's wrong?" I ask him worried that something is happening.

"I'm just scared." He replies.

"Of what?"

"That the baby is hurt or not okay. Or that it is okay and it is full term which I hope that it is but then we will have a baby and what happens if I have an episode? You know? I could hurt the baby. I already don't want to hurt you and now we will have a kid in nine months. What am I going to do?" Peeta explains freaking out.

"Peeta you are going to be fine. This kid will love you. And you haven't had an episode in forever. They are pretty much gone. It's okay. There is nothing to be afraid of." I say.
I am actually terrified. What if I'm not a good mother. The child is already stuck with me so what if I'm just not good. What if it doesn't love me.

Peeta notices the look on my face.

"Katniss. There is nothing to be worried about just like you just told me." Peeta laughs.

In about to reply but the door opens.

"Hello Mr. and Mrs.Mellark. I doctor Flora. I will be with you through this pregnancy." Dr.Flora says.

We shake her hands.

"Okay Katniss. Let's see here. I need to take your weight, blood pressure, and height." She tells me.

She does all of that.

"Okay now can you lay down on this table and lift your shirt up for me please." She tells me.

I oblige.

She puts some cold gel stuff on my stomach. It's freezing.

"Cold?" Peeta asks.

"Yep." I say.

Dr.Flora moved a little wand thingy around on my stomach. She looks at the screen. Then she points to something.

"Do you see that?" She asks.

Peeta and I nod.

"That's your baby."

"That's our baby Peeta." I say in amazement.

"It's tiny." He says.

That makes us all laugh.

We watch our Abby for a little while longer and then she takes the wand off. She hands Peeta paper towels to wipe off my stomach.

He wipes it all off and picks me up.

"Okay would you like some pictures of the baby?" She asks.

"Yes please." Peeta and I both say at the exact same time.

She laughs and hands us the pictures.

"Well now I want to have you back every month and on the fifth month, you can see you baby's gender." She tells us.

"Yay!" I say.

I'm so happy right now.

"You can make your next appointment at the receptionist desk. " she says.

"Okay that you." I say.

She nods and walks out.

Peeta picks me up and spins me around.

"Thank you thank you thank you!" He exclaims.

We make our appointment and walk home.

When we get home we hang around the house for a little while.

We eat then go strait to bed seeing as it's been pretty eventful.
