EVERYONE IS ANGRY BUT APPARENTLY, JACK IS THE ONE TO BLAME...

"Dalton, are you telling me that you lost a WMD that was right under your nose?" They had to call Matty after they lost the bomb. They draw straws but Jack was sure everyone cheated, so he was the one having to tell Matty The Hun about the mess they've made.

"We were sure it was in the chopper we burnt down."

"Dalton, when did you think it was safe to set fire to a chopper with a bomb inside?"

"There was a diamond case protecting it," Mac specified.

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" Matty snapped.

"No, but we might know what the target is," Alex offered. He told her that it probably was going to be a military french base, almost deserted but of either great importance or great significance, "it's a symbolic move Matty, they want every country to know that they can reach them if they want. Especially during a ceremony happening under the protection of the American and British secret services."

"And as usual, the American government will blame every Middle East country they have a thing against and the British will follow," Mac added.

"If every country feels under threat, war will rage on fast," Jack finished.

"Then you need to find what is the target and fast, the opening ceremony is two days," on that, Matty ended the call.

They quickly left Point Blanc not wanting to be there when the police arrived and they booked a crappy motel for the rest of the day. Riley was analysing chatter on the dark web to fish some info on the attack but without much success. Mac and Bozer were sitting on the couch, whispering about what had happened this morning at Point Blanc.

"He didn't know Boze, he just jumped in the car thinking I was just going to get us fried to retrieve that bomb."

"You think Matty is gonna bench him?"

"I don't know, Jack did not tell her yet," Mac responded with a shrug.

Jack took Alex for a ride in their smelly, rusty, crappy rental car (if you could even call it a car), thinking the kid might open up. After the discussion they had this morning Jack thought the situation was sorted alright but quickly realised that things continued to go downhill. Alex was busy studying his hands with an unconcerned look on his face as if he couldn't even care less that he could have just died barely two hours ago. And Jack was tired of it, so he parked the car on the side of the road.

"Get out," he told him.

Alex eyed him cautiously and opened his door with a sigh. Jack did the same and stood on his side of the car arms crossed angrily.

"If you're going to lecture me just do it" Alex felt tired.

"LECTURE YOU?! You think that this is what it's about?" Jack began to shout, "Yes I could lecture you about caring more about your life, about making thoughtful field decisions. I want you to tell me why you just jumped in a car to get fried just to retrieve a damn bomb! And don't tell me you knew the car was bulletproof. I know you didn't!"

Alex wanted to reply that he did care for his life, that he did think about it before getting in that car but the truth is that he didn't, he wished he had but he didn't and he wasn't sure why either.

Jack must have seen that he was completely lost because he got around the car to join Alex and rested his hands on his shoulders.

"Hey buddy, I know this mission is weighing upon you, but I can't do my job correctly if I have to check every two minutes that you are not setting yourself on fire or doing some crazy suicidal stunts. If you don't tell me what's going on I'll have to call Matty so she benches you. You don't want that, hell, I don't want that but if it is to protect you I won't hesitate, so spill it."

So Alex told him everything about his Point Blanc mission and about how it ended with him in the hospital after he took the less negotiable road out of the school. And he told him about Sarov, Turner and Troy, Skeleton Key and the nuclear threat that was prevented and about Sarov suicide.

"The thing is that I even felt bad for him, Jack. All he wanted in the end was to have a son, to have me. He saved me. He could have killed me and finished up his plan but he didn't. And when he pulled the trigger, oh... I was so close, I couldn't hear a thing. There was blood and I couldn't hear my heartbeat, I thought I was dead and I wasn't really sad."

He slumped down against the car forcing Jack to crouch down in front of him. "I know our new guy is not Sarov but they're so identical that I'm afraid I'll freeze and that makes me angry."

"Hey kiddo, it's not your fault, you were fourteen years old, you shouldn't even have had to face this. Sarov made his choice and you know what, I'm glad he did 'cause you wouldn't be alive if he didn't. And you remember what I said about Family: we're here to back you up anytime, you don't have to face everything alone, not anymore."

"I will probably do it again though," Alex admitted.

"Doing what again,"

"Going in a car that might go boom", he raised his hand for Jack to let him finish, "I know I don't have to save the world but if going in that car means to save my family I'll happily hop in."

"I know," Jack simply replied, he passed a hand across his face and got back on his feet, "We should head back, the others will start to worry. Oh and you never told me how you escaped earlier back when Sarov's goons held us at gunpoint?"

Alex waited for them to be back in the car to tell him about the undercover CIA agent and the waterboarding...

Jack wants to punch people. A lot. Preferably in the face. Repetitively.
