My last period of the school day was lunch. Most of the boys at my school hated if they had last lunch because that meant they got the bad food, and the wait was too long for the end of the day. I enjoyed it though because it was the time I took to settle down my nerves from the long day and clear my head of my thoughts. I also got a head start on my homework instead of waiting until I got home.

I always ate the food, but never all of it. The boys were right when they said it's disgusting, sometimes I think it will start crawling across my tray. But it's better than nothing, as my sister would say.

I sat alone at lunch in the far corner of the room, farthest away from the door. When the bell rang it was chaos trying to get out of there without being trampled so I stuck to the side in the shadows until mostly everyone left. I didn't have anyone to go rush to meet anyway. I didn't talk to people, so in result, I didn't have any friends besides my sister. But she graduated two years ago, so that didn't help me much at the school grounds.

I was somewhat jealous of my sister, Stella. She was the complete opposite of me in school. She was popular, pretty, funny, and she was chosen to speak for her graduating class. Stella was in so many clubs, clubs that I was too afraid to sign up for and participate in. That didn't stop her from trying to get me to do it. She knows I'm quiet, but she refuses to believe that's how I'll always be. Stella said I just need to come out of my shell a little. Last time I checked, I'm not a turtle therefore I don't have a shell, is what I always responded with.

I sighed as I picked at my peas on my school plate. We had ten minutes left until the bell rang, which meant I had another forty minute walk home in the cold. I was used to it by now, but I was so tired at the end of the day. I wish I could fly instead of walking.

"Hey, Abigail, right?" A deep voice said from behind me, and I jumped. Someone was talking to me? And how did they know my name?

I turned my head to the side to look at the tall boy standing next to my table. My eyes widened at who it was. Hunter Carter was standing in front of me. He was on the basketball team, and was one of the most popular boys at school, but... why was he taking to me? His blue eyes captivated mine and his smile made me flush red.

"Um... Abby," I stuttered out," You can call me Abby if... if you'd like."

"Okay, Abby," He said with a heart breaking smile," I would like to ask a favor of you."

I gulped," S-sure. What is it?"

His hands landed in front of my tray as he leaned on them. He looked me directly in the eyes with his electric blue ones and I fought to keep my gaze on them. He was breathtaking.

"... And I'd give them back to you, of course." He finished and I realized I hadn't been paying attention to his words, only his eyes.

Nice going, idiot. You just embarrassed yourself in front of the Hunter Carter. The voice in my head scolded me and my face turned even a darker shade of red.

"I'm sorry... w-what was it?" I asked, twiddling with the end of my light brown hair. I was so stupid. I couldn't believe I just lost focus because he was looking at me.

He chuckled and my heart almost stopped," I wanted to know if I could borrow your history notes?"

"O-oh, sure. Let- let me just get them," My clammy hands shook a little as I turned through my binder and popped the prongs open to take out my history notes.

I put the stripped notebook in his awaiting hand and he smiled down at me," Sweet. I'll give them back to you on Monday," his eyebrows shot up," Unless..."

I bit my lip as I waited for him to continue. We had two minutes before the bell was going to ring, and I was scared our conversation was going to be cut short.

"If you come to the library tomorrow night before they close, I'll be there and I can give them back to you then." He suggested and my breath caught in my throat. Meet up with him? Outside of school?

"I-I... um.. okay," I decided quickly before I could think it through," I'll be there."

"Good," He smiled one last time before the bell rang.

He tucked the notebook under his arm and held his fist out to me. With a slowly moving hand I stuck my small fist out and nudged it against his in some sort of fist bump.

He laughed again before turning around," I'll see you tomorrow night, Abby."

Hunter Carter will be the death of me.
