"Abby, Abby look at me," Hunter's voice pushed through my hazy and clouded mind; I eventually snapped my blurred vision to his eyes and opened my mouth. Nothing but a squeak came out.
"What's wrong?" His blue eyes were strong and powerful, like an orb of some sort, but I didn't look at them long. I ripped my body out of reach and shook my head.
"I- I have to go." I stuttered out before I turned my back on him and ran down the street. His voice calling me back was the last thing I heard before my ears began ringing. I had to get home and make sure Stella was alright.
On the radio it said apartment G56, that was two doors down from us. G56 belonged to some older man named Bruce; he wasn't the nicest guy but we knew him pretty well. Well, Stella did, I didn't really talk to him. What if Stella tried to do something to stop the break in? That sounded like her. She always tried to be the superhero; I stuck in the shadows, away from the attention.
The closer I got to the apartment building, the more pressure built up in my chest. I felt like I was going to explode. When I finally got to the building, it looked like it always did, I guessed the police hadn't gotten there yet. Why? I couldn't have been faster than the police. It didn't matter, though. I had to get to Stella.
The first thing I noticed was the man that usually sits in the lobby asleep was on the floor with his glasses broken. He had a black eye and the lobby was trashed. When I looked at him more closely, I could tell he was knocked unconscious. I felt bad for leaving him, but I still ran past him to the stairwell that lead to the upper floors.
My vision was blurred from tears that I didn't allow to drop so I tripped many times on the way up the endless stairs. One trip in particular, sent a wave of pain up my shin and I knew I busted the skin open, yet I continued as fast as I could.
"We got'em boss; we have an extra though," A voice said from the flight above me," Lady was tryin' to stop us! I can't believe it either, boss." He laughed and I heard shuffling and a few grunts. They sounded familiar. Stella was so stupid; always over her head.
"Let me go creep!" That was definitely her. My heart stopped at the sound of skin meeting skin. They had slapped her.
I couldn't help the cry that escaped my throat," Stella!"
I rushed up the last set of stairs separating us, and my body froze. At the top of the stairs was my older sister, arm behind her back, being held by a burly looking man with purple hair and a red dragon tattoo going down his arm.
"Abby!" She called out to me, trying to kick the man that was holding her," No! Get away from here!"
Three other men came from above and stopped behind my sister with Bruce in their hold. He was half conscious in the arms of the men, and I new I was in over my head. That wasn't going to stop me from trying.
"I won't leave you," I told Stella as the first of my tears dropped from my eyes.
The men laughed,"Looks like she wants to come with us, huh boys?"
I balled my fists up and growled at them. If they took my sister, they were taking me,"Let her go."
"Heh," the man laughed, I could tell he was the leader in this break in by the way he was standing out from the others,"Get her."
"Abby run!" Stella yelled before her mouth was covered. My body didn't think twice before it turned and took off down the way I came.
I didn't get far; a hand grabbed the back of my jacket and I was slung down on the concrete floor with a loud bang. My back ached as I was pulled up by my upper arms and turned around to face the other three goons. Screaming, I kicked as hard as I could, but nothing seemed to be working. I was trapped- we were trapped.
"Take'em out the back way to the alley. We can load'em in the van back there and get outta here," The man with the purple hair commanded once again and started dragging my sister with him down the stairs.
My sister and I let out grunts and wiggled the best we could but it didn't help us at all. We were both small and not very strong, so we were nothing compared to these giant guys.
I remained silent, trembling in the man's tight hold. I was terrified of what they would do to us. Where would they take us? Would the cops save us in time? Stella on the other hand, was screaming, yelling, and doing anything she could to distract them.
But it all stopped when they drug us down an alleyway and threw her and the still unconscious Bruce in the back of a van. i couldn't believe this was happening. I was being brought to the van then, but a big spotlight came over us, blinding me, but I heard the sound of an engine.
"It's one of those green freaks!" The man holding me yelled, slinging me around in his grip," Get'em!"
A battle cry was pushed through the air and I saw the spotlight getting closer to us. The person was on some kind of ride, a motorcycle I thought. And they were coming this way.
Oh god, I thought, this isn't going to end good.
The guy on the motorcycle got three of the goons down on the ground and the bike turned around. I could only see the red of the bike and a red helmet. The man looked to be really big and muscular, but that's all I saw before I was falling to the ground with a unconscious two-hundred pound man on top of me.
"Let's get outta here!" The remaining men retreated, running to the van while I struggled to get up. I had to get Stella; I couldn't let them have her. Who knows what they would do to her.
"Stella! Stella!" I screamed, running towards the van, but I was too slow. They slammed the back shut, and quickly turned around in the alley. Frozen in shock, my feet wouldn't follow my brain and were glued to the ground. My eyes screwed shut as I waited for pain.
It never came.
