"Raph!" I yelled out, stumbling my way over to the fallen turtle,"Raph!"
"Abby!" Donatello's voice called out to me, and I could feel his hand barely miss its grasp on my jacket. I knew I was being stupid to yell at a time like this, but I couldn't help the panic take over my body.
I approached his body with Donatello on my heals, the other two watching out for the Battle Shell. Quickly, I got down on my knees next to his still unmoving body with shaking hands. His eyes were closed shut, and he had a huge bruise on his cheek. As I looked closer, he had bruises pretty much everywhere. My heart tugged in my chest when I placed my hand on his wrist and he gave no response.
"Raphael?" I said his name, shaking his arm gently. In the darkness, I could barely see his face scrunch up in pain and he let a small groan slip past his lips. It wasn't much, but it was something. I couldn't help the relieved smile that graced my lips.
"Raph, can you hear me?" Donatello asked, taking his wrist to feel his pulse. He titled his brother's head to the side to look at the back of his head. I guessed it's where he collided with the wall.
"He's got a minor concussion. He'll be fine in a couple of hours." He told me, patting my back with his free hand. I bit my lip when Raphael popped his eyes open with a groan.
"Feel like I got hit by a bus." He groaned, sitting up slowly and rubbing the back of his head.
"Just a wall, bro." Donatello said, laughing a little,"Let's get you up; the Battle Shell should be here any minute."
My heart sped up, my hand sweating, and my cheeks reddening when Raphael had to throw his arm over my shoulder and his other around Donatello for support. I could tell his head was swimming by the way he had to let us guide him to the armored truck that pulled into the mouth of the alley.
He is pressed against me. He is against me, and I'm against him, and I'm going to die. I freaked in my head, my knees shaking.
"I got it, Don, I don't need help." He grumbled when Donatello tried to lead him up into the truck. With a sigh, he let go of his brother and moved to the drivers seat while I tired to slip out from under Raphael's other arm.
"Maybe a little help, toots." He whispered in my ear, keeping his arm over my shoulders. I could feel my breathing still and my cheeks heat up even more. I was going to melt at this rate. I didn't protest, just nodded, and stepped up into the truck with Raphael right by my side.
It almost felt like the turtle wanted to keep me at his side, grumbling when we had to separate in order to sit down. The heat never left my cheeks as he sat beside me, bringing his hand up to rub at the back of his head again. With the headache he was sporting, I was surprised he could stand to talk.
"Gotta find Leo and get the shell outta here." He said, breaking the silence with his deep voice. Donatello made a humming sound from the drivers seat, Splinter nodded from beside him, and Michelangelo complained about Donatello hitting a pothole in the street, it jostling his ankle.
"Um. Mind if I ask what exactly happened?" I had the courage to ask, really wanting an answer.
"Yes, I too, am curious about what you have endured tonight." Master Splinter spoke right after me, making me not as scared for asking.
Donatello sighed, and turned a corner,"We gave the sword back, said no, and fought off some Foot Ninjas."
"Then that big blonde oaf Hun showed up and kicked our shells." Michelangelo added after his brother, rubbing sheepishly at his arm.
"Yeah, but Leo kicked him through a skylight, and he was finished." Raphael continued the tale, his eyes locked on the window, looking out at the street. His fists tightened up so much that his arms had veins pulsing in his arms.
"Then Leo's pal, Saki, showed up and really kicked our shells." He grouched out, and that's when I clicked that not all his bruises came from falling off the building.
"Handed them right to us." Michelangelo chipped in, his expression becoming dark.
"After that, the generator on the roof blew up and the building caught fire. Mikey and I fell off the same side of the building together, and we got away before The Shredder could chase after us." Donatello explained how him and Michelangelo got away, going further into it by explaining how they had to retreat into someone's apartment. He became sheepish when he also had to confess that they had been caught by a small boy while he was wrapping up Michelangelo's ankle.
"I'm guessin' y'all saw me fall in the dumpster,"Raphael looked at me from the corner of his eye,"Building blew and I went flying."
"And I don't know what kind of shape Leo is going to be in." Donatello spoke up again, pressing down on the peddle to speed up the truck. I could tell Splinter didn't like it by the way he sent his son a warning glance.
"He went off the building first, the ledge behind him collapsed and he fell. I heard glass breaking and a car alarm; my guess is he landed on a car... Not such an ideal thing." The purple banded turtle showed his concern for his older brother, tightening his grip on the steering wheel.
"We must find him quickly, and then address what we do next." Master Splinter said before gripping onto the side of his seat.
"Slow down! You drive too quickly!" He finally snapped, but Donatello did nothing but groan at his father.
"I'm tracking Leo; he's right around the corner." He tried to explain, but his father was too focused on scolding him that he didn't catch what he was saying.
He turned,"And that turn was too sharp!" Splinter scolded, and I could hear Raphael snickering from beside me.
"Master Splinter." Donatello whined, but automatically hit the brakes causing me to fly forward. If Raphael hadn't swung his arm out across my stomach I probably would've flew into the floorboard. My arms wrapped around Raphael's with a strong grip while I tried to get my head to stop swimming.
Okay, maybe Donatello does need some driving lessons.
"Geez Don-" Raphael started but was interrupted by said turtle rolling down the window.
"Hey, Leo! Need a ride?"
