"I saw how good you both did a couple weeks ago with the military theme so this week we are doing another." I feel my heart start racing. I would like to put that whole week out of my mind but I know I can't and it won't do any good if I pretend that the week never happened.
"Okay." I hear myself speak. Lane's eyes find my own and he nods his head. I know he is worried about me and I can understand why, but I need to do this. My dad loved everything about the Army, Airforce, Navy and all of the people who served our country. This is the least I can do. We start the number and it is going pretty well. He makes sure we understand what is being asked of us and that if we are uncomfortable that we can talk to him. It a big change from our last choreographer but it's a good change.
We get through Monday no problem. The music is beautiful. Tuesday after our rehearsal Winter and Tiffany join me in studio 13 to rehearse our trio for the cabin on Wednesday.
"What should we wear?" I ask them both.
"Hip hop stuff?" Tiffany suggest.
"I don't own anything for that remember, I didn't think that I would be needing anything like that."
"I got you both if you need..." Winter suggests and I smile. "Let's go have supper and then we can rummage through my closet to find three perfect outfits." We all agree and head to the meal hall.
"What took you three so long?" Simon asks as we finally sit down at our normal table.
"Working on our trio for the cabin." Winter tells them.
"Really what kind of trio?" Aaron asks.
"Something fun." I tell them smiling at Tiffany and Winter.
"Are you sure you can handle focusing on a cabin routine and the comp routine Tiff, you seemed to have a little trouble with this one and might need extra time spent of that instead." Walter says.
"No I'm good Walter."
"What are you her mother?" Winter eyes him up like he's a foreign object she's never seen before.
"No I just like to win plus I am her partner." Walter defends himself.
"Sometimes it's therapeutic just to dance at the cabin for fun. Plus Lane doesn't mind and he's my partner."
"Did you ever ask Lane if he minded?" Walter asks and I'm taken aback by the question.
"I haven't but he hasn't when ever he performed as well." I state and Walter glares at me. Then he gets up and leaves the meal hall and I stare after him wondering where this strange side came from.
"It's okay guys he's just in a bad mood, been like that all day." Tiffany brushes it off like it's no big deal.
"Even if you're in a bad mood I don't think talking to you like that was okay." Winter says. "There are other ways to deal with it, like talking about it in private that are more appropriate."
"Don't let it get to you." Tiffany tells us and I try to listen it's just I've never seen Walter like that. He doesn't talk very frequently and when I see him he's always smiling and having a good time. But then I also remember all the times Tiffany says he's crazy when it comes to the comp. I think I can understand her now that I've seen that side myself.
We finish eating and put the Walter incident out of our heads as we go back to our dorm and start to destroy Winter's closet.
"What about this?" Tiffany asks. She is holding out a mesh shirt with black leggings. "I'll wear a sports bra under this and keep it simple and cool."
