10- Flashlight Tag

Chapter 10

I screamed at the top of my lungs as I felt someone touch my shoulder. I turned around and saw Devin cracking up.

"Why are you in my house at midnight?!" I yelled and gestured towards the clock. I was wearing a tank top and oversized sweatpants. He was wearing pajamas too.

So what was he doing in my house?!

"Me, Genny, Daniel, Kevin, John, Mariam, and Maddy are going somewhere to do something. Wanna come with us? And don't worry we all in pjs," he asked me.

My uncle wasn't getting back until around morning time so I could probably go.

"Okay but where are we going when it's midnight?" I asked. He smirked and dragged me out of my house. I didn't even get to shut the door. So I dragged him back so I can shut the door. And then he dragged me back.

"Devin! Where are we going?" I asked. It was freezing outside.

"I'm going to get a sweater," I told him. I walked back to the house for the second time and grabbed a grey sweater and put it on over my head and then went outside with Devin again.

He was standing in my driveway with everyone else. They were all in their pjs and some of them had flashlights.

Genny waved me over and I walked over to them.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Geez, just be patient and you'll see." Dev said and went over to talk with Daniel. Genny raised an eyebrow at me indicating she didn't know where we were going either.

"Ok Daniel is driving," Kevin announced. What?! He's only 15. (A/N okay so I forgot to tell ya that they're all 15 now 😂)

"But he doesn't have a license," Mariam said nervously.

"He has a permit," Kevin explained.

"But he needs an adult in the car," I pointed out.

"Stop being babies I'm not that bad of a driver," Daniel said teasingly. I smiled but I felt butterflies in my stomach. I was really nervous. I had no clue where we were going. It was midnight and I was going in a car with an underage driver.

Maybe I shouldn't have agreed to this.

"Um...," I trailed off when Genny pulled me in the car.

"Relax, he good," she said. I nodded and put my seatbelt on, I couldn't take any chances. I was stuck in the back in between Kevin and Genny.

Kevin was closer than I liked so I scooted to the right a little.

Daniel started the car and started driving. I shrieked everytime he stopped or turned.

"Relax," Kevin laughed. I glared at him and then the car came to a halt.

"Is it over," I whispered to Kevin. He smiled at me and nodded. I sighed with relief and climbed out of the car quickly before anyone else.

"Was I bad?" Daniel asked climbing out of the car after me. I nodded. He hit my shoulder playfully and we waited for everyone to get out of the car. There was 5 of us here which was ode crowded in the car.

They all crowded around Daniel and Dev.

I looked around and saw we were in a deserted field. Why are we here?

"Daniel why are we here?" I asked.

"We're playing a game," he said with that accent and a smirk. (A/N the accent Daniel was doing when they went live on periscope when he was telling all those corny jokes and wouldn't shut up with the drums 😂)

This can't be good.

"Uh oh," Genny muttered next to me.

"Ok so today we're jeust playin flashleight tag beut inshtead of sheining their leight on them, you have to teackle them."

"What?!" Genny, me, Maddy, and Mariam yelled at the same time.

"Don't worry we'll tackle you two carefully," John smirked. I hit his shoulder and turned back to Daniel.

"Ok so me, Kevin, Dev, and Jeohn are iet. Everyone else run. You can go around the field and ien the trees but that's it. Okay we'll give you guys 30 seconds. Go!" Daniel yelled. Genny and I took off into the woods with Maddy and Mariam in front of us.

Genny ran off away from me which left me alone in the middle of a bunch of trees.

I heard them counting.

10, 11, 12.

I got to get going. I really don't want to get tackled especially by a boy.

I ran in random directions for a while before I got tired out.

28, 29, 30.

They were done counting.

I could hear them coming near me.

I looked around frantically looking for a place to hide.

Then I got an idea. They never said I couldn't go up a tree. I started climbing the closest tree I could. I got up a few branches before I heard footsteps coming nearer. I climbed a few more branches before I was forced to stop. They could hear me.

I breathed quietly and saw Daniel pass me. I smiled in victory and leaned against the tree.

Dev passed and John passed in the next 10 minutes but where was Kevin?

After sitting there for a long time I decided to get down and make a run for the field. I don't think anyone would be there. I climbed down the tree quietly and ran towards the fields making sure to watch where I step.

I heard Genny and Mariam yelling in the distance and smiled.

I ran onto the field and sighed with relief when no one was there. Maybe I could camp out in the car which is in the middle of the field. I started running towards it when I swear I saw something move out of the corner of my eye. I looked around and saw no one so it was probably my imagination.

I reached the car and was about to open the door before someone jumped on me. I screamed so loud my throat hurt and I dropped on the ground with a loud thud.

I opened my eyes and saw Kevin on top of me.

His eyes met mine. I never realized how they looked before. They were a shade of hazel mixed with brown.

They looked so nice.

My breath caught in my throat as he leaned in closer to me. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach.

What was he doing?

And why did I like it?

Just when I thought he was going to kiss me he then went to my ear.

"You're out," he whispered and got off of me and sprinted into the woods.

Whaleeee I hate Kevin for doing that. It even messed with my emotions as I wrote it 😂😒

Buhh as you can tell I tried to do the accent Daniel was doing when they went live on periscope when he was telling corny jokes 💀💀
