Chapter 11

On the way home I was still shaken up a bit about what had happened. Not about Kevin doing that. I mean it was nothing. He just tackled me like he was supposed to and told me I was out.

It was me. How I felt when he was doing that. Like I wanted it to be something.

Like how I wanted him to kiss me.

When I got home, I jumped out of the car and ran into the house without saying goodbye to any of them. My uncle still wasn't home so I didn't really care about being quiet. I kicked off my shoes and walked into my room and collapsed on my bed.

I had to come up with one conclusion.

That I liked him.

But it seemed so wrong.

He's a player and my friend. You can't date a player and a friend!

But it felt like the only explanation, or maybe I was just overthinking it.

But until I'm positive I can't and I mean can't tell anyone about this! I can't even tell anyone when I'm positive. This is a kind of thing that no one can find out about especially Kevin. I haven't really felt this way about anyone... ever.

I haven't really known anyone for most of my life.

But I also have never really had friends my whole life, which is why I can't lose them. So I just won't tell anyone.

Maybe I was just overthinking this whole thing.

I mean it was just Kevin. There's nothing special about him that I would like I mean besides his hazelish brown eyes, how he always bites his lip and how he wears snapbacks and beanies and how he always has that little smirk on his face-

Wait... maybe I do like him.

I sighed dreamily before closing my eyes and falling into deep sleep.

"Wake up Camila," someone yelled and shook me awake. My eyes fluttered open as I recognized Uncle Ben standing in front of me.

"What time is it?" I mumbled.

"7:10, you better get ready," he explained. I nodded and slowly sat up, my head feeling dizzy. My head still hurt from last night.

Oh yeah... last night...

I blushed and my uncle gave me a weird look.

"You okay Camila?" he asked.

"I'm fine, perfectly fine," I said happily and giggled. He gave me a suspicious look before leaving. I stood up from my bed and walked into the hallway and into the bathroom to take a shower.

"You have cross country after school so I'll pick you up at 5 okay?" he asked. I nodded and stepped out of his car and onto the curb. I closed the door shut and I looked around looking for Genny. I spotted her in the corner sitting on a bench and I made my way over to her. She smiled when she saw me.

"Hi!" she said and I sat next to her.

"Hey, last night was fun, have you guys done that before?" I asked.

She nodded excitedly, "We used to do it every Friday buh then we got busy, so now we just do it on random days where we're all free," she explained.

"Oh and that reminds me... I was meaning to ask you last night but I didn't get the chance.. where were you yesterday?" she asked.

"Umm, I-," I trailed off.

"Did you skip with Chelby?" she asked. Without thinking I nodded shamefully.

"She did that to me too. I thought we would be good friends and I thought she actually liked me as a friend buh she was just using me, don't hang out with her anymore okay?"

I wasn't surprised though. I secretly knew she using me but I just needed to prove myself.

"Don't worry, all they talk about is clothes and stuff. I won't be hanging out with them anymore," I explained. She smiled and then we both looked up and saw Kevin walking over.

I held my breath as he reached us.

"Hey guys," he said and sat next to me. We both said hi to him and I exhaled.

"Last night was so fun!" Genny exclaimed.

Genny and Kevin went on and on about last night and when they will do it again.

I spaced out for a minute thinking about random things and then my dad came into my head. I wonder what he was doin. Probably locked up in the cell, starving.

I cringed at the thought. I know he was bad and deserved it, buh in the end he was still my family and I grew up with him.

"You okay Camila?" Genny asked and raised her eyebrow at me. I looked up and saw Kevin and Genny staring at me.

"Oh uh yeah," I said and gave her a fake smile. Genny bought it buh Kevin didn't.

"Oh there's Daniel! I'm going to go talk to him! See you later!" Genny said and zoomed off leaving me and Kevin alone. I glared at Genny as she ran towards Daniel.

My heart fluttered as Kevin his hand on my shoulder. I held my breath and looked at his hand but he didn't pull it away. I met his gaze and butterflies filled my stomach.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yeah...," I lied.

"You can talk to me you know," he whispered and leaned in closer to me, "You can tell me anything."

I let out a breath and looked at him for a second.

"You wouldn't understand," I muttered and looked away ignoring the urge inside to just kiss him. I looked up again. His lips... inches away, I just had to lean in and...

The bell rang and I cursed under my breath.

"We'll finish this later," he said and took off without another word. I sat there for another few seconds and smiled to myself.

He cared about me.

I stood up and shakily followed everyone to class.

The rest of the day went by in a blur. In drama, we just finished out question sheet and we'll be presenting that in front of the whole class tomorrow.

At lunch, we just talked about what we usually did. Kevin didn't look at me once.

And now school is over and I'm sitting outside the locker rooms tying my shoe on the bench.

"Hi," a familiar voice said behind me. I turned around and saw Daniel standing in the doorway of the boy's locker rooms.

"Hi," I said and smiled at him. He walked over to me and sat down next to me.

"You got on the cross country? That's impressive. You have to be pretty fast for the cross country team. I tried out for the boy's team and I didn't make it," he said. I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Really? Wow," I stated.

"Yeah, well I better go, my mom should be here soon, see you later," he waved goodbye and left. I finished tying my shoes and walked out to the track.
