Chapter 1
"Camila? You settling in okay?" Uncle Ben asked as he stood in the doorway. I smiled at him.
"I'm doing fine. Thanks for letting me stay here," I said and he nodded.
"Well I'm heading to the store, do you need anything?" he asked and I shook my head.
"Alright, if you need anything I'll have my phone with me," he informed me then left. I sighed as I heard his car drive away.
If you don't know. My name is Camila Cabello and I am 15 years old.
You're probably wondering why I'm here living with my uncle. Well, let's just say things with my old family didn't go so well. With my mom being an alcoholic and my dad being in prison I had no place to go but here.
But I'm glad I'm here. I get to go to a school. A real school. I had to travel with my dad everywhere, so I had to be homeschooled. I haven't been to a school my whole life. I know weird right?
But this will change it all. I know I am starting kind of late. Being a sophomore and not having gone to school before pressuring but I can manage it. I hope.
I took a deep breath then looked around my room. I had gotten here yesterday and my room was already done. It had light blue walls and a few posters here and there. The floor was black carpeted and I had red blankets on my bed. I thought it was kind of plain but it still looked kind of cool with the mix of colors.
I was sitting on my bed on my laptop. I was addicted to my laptop. When my dad made me travel everywhere, my laptop was the only thing that still kept me sane.
I didn't have wifi everywhere but even if I didn't have wifi I could still write on Word. Yeah, I write stories, but I don't show them to anyone. Mostly because they are fan fictions.
But I went on twitter and Instagram and tumblr. On twitter I had over 10k followers mostly because I was YouTube famous, well I wouldn't consider myself famous but...
My dad got caught over a month ago. It was heartbreaking for me to think that they were interrogating him in there. But I mean it couldn't be that bad he would just tell them he needed the money. It's just the fact that he's in a freaking jail cell that bothers me.
But in that month when they were deciding what they would do to me, they let me stay in one of their houses and I had nothing to do so I sang and posted videos on YouTube and got a lot of views fast.
I wasn't famous or anything but I was definitely not a nobody.
A lot of people liked and commented on my videos and even subscribed. I loved when people commented. They would say things like:
'You're so pretty and talented!!! :DDD'
'You're an amazing singer!!!!! I am waiting for the day when I hear you sing on the radio!!!!'
'I am your biggest fan Camila!!!!!'
It's amazing how a YouTube channel can change you. But I'm sure if they knew me in real life they would hate me.
My thoughts were interrupted by the doorbell. I groaned. It's probably one Ben's old neighbors. I closed my laptop and walked out of my room. It was a one floor house so I just walked through the hallway and at the end was the door.
I opened it and there stood a guy around my age with black curly hair in a somewhat quiff.
"Uh who are you?" he asked.
"Uh who are you?" I asked. He raised an eyebrow at me.
"I'm Devin, Devin Gordon. And you are?" Why does that name sound familiar? It sounds like a name I've seen on YouTube.
"I'm Camila, Camila Cabello," I said mocking him. He rolled his eyes.
"Why are you here?" I asked and gave him a questioning look.
"I came here to give Ben his basketball back," he said and handed me a basketball. I hesitated but took it.
"Ok," I mumbled and put the ball on the ground.
"What are you doing here? This is Ben's house not yours," he blurted out. Well that was rude.
"I'm not offended at all," I said sarcastically.
"Look I'm just saying if you're a robber you are not a very good one." I laughed.
" I live here. Don't worry I'm not here to rob anything," I responded. He smiled and showed his gap.
"You live here? Ben has a daughter?" he asked sounding surprised. I shook my head.
"He's my uncle," I explained.
"Oh well it was nice meeting you Camila," he said. I nodded at him and then he left. I closed the door behind him.

"Mila! Dinner's ready!" Uncle Ben shouted. I close my laptop and headed to the kitchen where the smell of pasta was. I smiled at the smell. Pasta was my 2nd favorite food.
There were two plates set up at his small table. I walked over and sat down next to Uncle Ben.
"So are you nervous?" he asked out of nowhere. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. Nervous?
"Why would I be nervous?" I laughed and took a bite out of my pasta.
"Tomorrow's your first day of school," he said. I sighed. I remembered now.
"I'm not that nervous," I lied. I was terrified. I mean most people are like this on their first day of school, but those people are 5. I'm 15.
"It's okay to be nervous. Everyone is nervous on their first day of school. Don't sweat it Camila."
"Everyone starts school when they're 5! I'm 15!" I protested and took more bites of the pasta.
"Well you have more reasons to be nervous because everyone else already started school has friends and knows everyone and is used to school and you won't know anyone and you'll be lost-," he started but I interrupted him.
"Wow this really helps," I said sarcastically. He took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry Camila. I'm sure you'll fit in just fine," he reassured me. I nodded and finished off my pasta.
"Well I better get to bed. It's getting late. I don't want to be tired at school tomorrow," I said and got up.
"Look I'm sorry about what I said. Don't think about that. Just think of the positive things. Like making new friends. You'll need them," Uncle Ben explained. I smiled at him.
"Thanks Uncle Ben," I said then turned around and walked into my room. Maybe Devin went to my school. He looked around my age.
But it wouldn't help anyways. He barely knows me. He probably already has other friends.
I already made up this whole background story for me to tell everyone. I figured I wouldn't tell anyone about me except if I got really close to them and I knew that I could trust them.
Of course my name would be Camila Cabello. I would pretend that I was living with my dad and mom but they traveled so much at work and I didn't want to travel so I went to live here with my uncle.
I think people would buy it.
I shrugged then looked out my window. Devin and some guy who also looked really familiar were playing football in his backyard.
I wonder who his friend was. I could've sworn I've seen them somewhere. Maybe they post YouTube videos or they follow me on Twitter or something. It's probably one of those two.
I shook the thought out of my head and changed into my pajamas. It was a pink tank top and black pajama pants.
I knew it was only 9 but I needed sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a big day.
