It's been two days since the epic news about Joffery and my mom and I both decided that I need to go to California ASAP so I can work hard on pointe. I've only been doing pointe a couple of months which makes me nervous because all the other people auditioning have at least one year of pointe training.
The most difficult part of Joffery is that you have to treat it as more of a competition rather than an audition. You're put up against all the other dancers auditioning and they only take the best three-ish into the school.
I continue packing when I realize I haven't told Ross. I quickly get my phone to tell him.
Nina: How would you feel about me coming to LA?
Ross: Don't tease me Nina.
But then I got a wonderful idea.
Nina: Sorry, I just really miss you.
Ross: I miss you too! I wish you were here. You could meet all my friends.
And then I got confused.
Because I remembered his almost girlfriend from the night of the ball when I posed as Cecilia. If he has an almost girlfriend back in LA, then why did he give me the last note? What does it mean?
It means he's a cheater. And I can't fall for him.
Not that I am, cause I'm not. I have to make sure I don't.
But I'm a cheater too!
I push these thoughts aside and call Rydel.
"Hello?" I hear her sweet voice answer.
"Rydel! Are you with Ross? Do I need you're help! Ok I need a favor and I have good news!" I say.
"Nina! I'm not with Ross. Ooh! Tell me the favor first." She says.
"But it's not going to make sense." I say.
"That's okay, just go for it." She says.
"Okay, I need your help surprising Ross." I say.
"Why? And isn't going to be hard to pull of a surprise if you're 3,000 miles away?" She asks. I instantly smile.
"Well, if I told you my good news first you would know I got an audition for Joffery in LA in two months and I'm moving in with my aunt in two days! I wanna surprise Ross!" I say. I hear screaming over the phone.
"THIS ISN'T A JOKE, RIGHT?" I hear Rydel scream. I laugh.
"No. But you can't let Ross know! You can tell anyone who can keep a secret, and we'll plan it." I say.
"Oh my stars! I can't believe this!" She says.
"Alright Stormie, calm down." I say. She laughs at my comparison of her to her mother.
"I think Riker should be in on the planning committee. He's really good at planning surprises." She says.
"Okay! I'll put us all in group chat." I say.
"Perfect!"
"I know right! I'm so excited!" I say. "And Joffery!" I say.
"That's huge Nina! Congrats!" She says.
"Thanks. Well I should finish packing." I say. We say good bye, and I instantly run and grab all my yellow.
This is going to be a long, yellow summer.
