Today is my audition for Joffrey LA, and saying I'm nervous would be an understatement.
So I decided that even though it's eight o'clock, that I'll go to the Lynches, since they have a show today downtown and they're probably already getting ready for sound check.
"Hello?" I ask when I enter.
"Nina! Thank God!" I hear, as Mark comes around the corner.
"Hey Mark, everything okay?" I ask.
"We can't get Ross up. You mind trying?" He asks.
"Sure." I say.
"Thanks kiddo. Good luck today." He calls.
"Thanks Mark!" I say, going up the stairs. I enter Ross and Ryland's room.
"Ross?" I ask. I sit on his bed and I see him sleeping. He moans.
"You gotta get up." I say.
"Lay with me." He moans, sleepily. I'm pretty sure he's just sleep talking. I sigh and lay next to him, and even though we're in a twin bed it works. In fact, there's actually plenty of room. I turn, looking at his sleepy face, his eyes shut lightly.
"You realize that I'm in bed with you, like actually in bed with you. For the first time?" I ask. He opens his eyes and smiles.
"Hi honey." he says. I laugh.
"You have to get up. And I have to go." I say. He sighs, and we both sit up.
"Oh, that's right!" He says. He gets up goes to his dresser. "I saw this in Riker's room. I got it fixed for today." He says. He hands me my grandmothers small angel pin.
"Thank you." I smile. I can't believe that he kept it for me. I hug him.
"Knock 'em out of the park, Nins." He says.

"Number 836." That's me.
I walked into the audition room and saw two men and a woman at a table.
"Hello." I said handing them my resume and headshot.
"Name?"
"Gardenia Morahan."
"Age?"
"Fifteen."
"Begin when you're ready." I stood in fifth position and waited for the music to come on. When it did I began to dance. I remembered all of my corrections and even nailed all 32 fuetes. I'm doing great! I went on pointe to begin my chenes in a chain. I felt my foot slip from under me and heard a large crack. I fell on my butt and held my ankle. I bit my lip trying to hold back the tears as my ankle throbbed. I undid the lace and winced in pain. My ankle was all purple. I began panting and the tears came out. I began to sob in pain and I laid on the floor holding my ankle.
"Would you like you continue?" The lady asked. Are you kidding?
"I-I can't move i-it." I said sobbing.
"Is there anyone we can call?" The man asked me. I thought of Ross but denied it because I wanted him to do well at rehearsal. I know he loved them.
"Can you call an ambulance?" I asked.
"Of course." The other man said, walking out to call.
"It's broke." The doctor said. Walking into my room. I had changed from my black leotard into my skinny jeans, white shirt and pink scarf. My hair was down with two pieces pulled to the back. I groaned. "6-8 weeks in a cast." He said walking to a cabinet. I groaned again.
"Black." I said as he began to rap my foot to my mid-calf in cotton and pink plaster. I grabbed my bag once I signed the release forms.

I walked with my crutches into the theater trying to let Ross see me and my broken ankle. He saw me but I was sitting so he didn't think anything was wrong. My stomach hurt as they continued Ain't no Way We're Going Home. Once they finished Rocky saw me and said.
"We're going to take a five minute break." Ross turned around to put his guitar down and when he turned back he saw me, standing with crutches and a cast. His eyes widened as he ran down to me and took my hands.
"What happened?" He asked, looking concerned.
"I messed up, Ross. I fell and broke my ankle." I said as I leaned against his chest into his shirt.
"It's okay." He said.
"No it's not. I made a fool of myself in front of Joffrey LA. I can't dance for eight weeks!"
"It's okay." He said.
"They took me in an ambulance to the hospital." I sobbed.
"Why didn't you call?"
"I didn't want to interrupt."
"You should've called! They would've understood! You're only fifteen and you went to the hospital alone!"
"I made a mistake." I cried. He looked at me and wiped away a tear.
"What did I tell you? It's okay to make mistakes. I'm sure you were beautiful."
"No I wasn't. I hate mistakes. I hate them I hate them." I said walking away I knew I looked weak.
"I make mistakes every day. You always forgive me. Why can't you forgive yourself?" Ross says.
"I can't fix my mistakes, Ross. No one is there to let me try again. If you messed up in front of your fans they would let you try again. I don't have thousands of fans. I don't have anybody. I just have myself and when you just have yourself." I sobbed. "You beat yourself up inside." I say.
"Ross." Ross said wrapping his arms around me. "You have one fan. You have me. Sometimes one fan is better than thousands." He looked at me and kissed my forehead which made me smile. "How did you get here?"
"I walked."
"You walked four blocks with a broken ankle?" I nodded. He hugged me.
"Ross! Come on!" Rocky said.
"Take a cab to my house and rest. I'll see you there." He said. I gave him a quick kiss and left.
