The rest of the week basically drug on by, Normani eventually came over to see the new place. She's been trying to convince me to throw a party there. Little does she know though, that if I get caught, my mom would totally beat my ess.
Friday was the day I was waiting on. I woke up so excited for the kick off of football season, and it was a little cold all week. That meant I could wear a hat and not get looked at crazy for it. Ally was going out with Troy, but I convinced Normani to come to the game with me.
"Normani, there's this boy that I think you'd really like." I told her, as we drove to WHS.
"I don't want anything to do with high school boys." She said in a disapproving tone.
"What's wrong with high school boys?"
"They're in high school?" she laughed.
"Yeah, I guess. This boy isn't in high school though."
"No?" she said sounding interested, as she looked up from her phone.
"No, he's cute too." I told her, nudging her arm.
"I guess, any cute boys at you lately?"
"Ugh, it's like I'm a piece of meat ever since I've been single." I said annoyed. Ever since I broke up with Kai, some people just won't stop. "I'm so bothered."
"But you're hot, why would they not?" she said, and I replied with a shrug as I pulled into the parking lot. "So you're going to stay single all year? That's no fun."
"Yeah, I guess. Until the right person comes along, I'm just not ready you know?" I told her as we got out of the car.
What I said was totally true, even if I hadn't exactly told Normani about Lauren and I yet. I liked Lauren, I think, but I'm still not over my last relationship. I hate to bring baggage from what I use to have into what I have now, but it's so hard not to. Lauren is such a beautiful person inside and out, I don't want to lead her on. I just don't know.
"Hey Dinah!" I heard an eager voice say from behind me in the ticket line.
"Hey!" I turned around to see Camila standing there and waving like she was crazy. It was kind of dorky but so cute at the same time.
"Who are you here with?" I asked her.
"Nobody, I came alone." She answered.
When Normani and I got our tickets, we waited for Camila to catch up and walk in.
"Are you meeting anybody?" Normani asked her once she got in.
"Nope, figured I'd just sit here and watch me some football. Even though I haven't the slightest clue about the sport." She joked.
"Neither do we girl, I just come for the boys." Normani told her.
"Oh yeah?" she said, giving me the most obvious side eye ever.
"Yeah, we do." I said trying to warn off her implication and hoping that she'd pick up on my hint.
"Sounds like fun, I'm in." she told the pair of us, and we made our way up to the bleachers near the student section.
"Why aren't we sitting in the section with everybody else?" Camila asked as we passed up all of the rowdy people.
"Because, you sit at the bottom just on the side of the fans." Normani explained. "Right by the concession stand, so everybody see's you and you see everybody."
"Ohhhh. You're a genius." She told her.
"Only with boys." I said, touching Camila's shoulder, looking away from Normani..
