School for the rest of the week was a drag on. Lauren and I decided that it'd be better if we were friends right now, while we figured everything else out.

She asked me to come with her this weekend to Florida, because she had a meeting with this record label. In the meantime, I did decide to join the volleyball team, and we had a game Friday night. Lauren said that she was coming and that we could just leave after I played.

"Briannah, where is the team going to eat before the game?" I asked.

"Oh I'm not sure, ask the captain, she'll tell you." Briannah answered me.

It was Friday evening, and I couldn't actually do anything but be around my teammates all day. We ate together, napped together, played together, and all of it was supposed to make us closer or something. Being on a team was very new to me, but I liked it. The girls all accepted me and said that I was actually pretty good. I did start, but I was close to it.

"I don't think the captain likes me." I replied.

"Daya likes everybody." She said.

Daya was just short for Zendaya, the team agreed that she'd be captain because of how skilled she was. She was the most popular girl in school because she played basketball and volleyball, effortlessly being amazing at both.

"Come with me." I replied.

"Fine." She said.

We got up from where we were sitting in the locker room to walk over to Zendaya who was listening to beats and drawing something.

"Daya, hey." Briannah said lightly tapping her on the shoulder.

She looked between the two of us before dryly answering, "Yes?"

"Where are we going to eat at?" I asked her expectantly.

"Wherever we go and eat at." She laughed, and was about to put her beats back on when Briannah stopped her.

"Seriously Zendaya, where?" she said.

"Why?" Zendaya replied.

"We just wanted to know." I said shyly, regretting my decision to come over here and bother our best player. She obviously wanted to be alone before the game.

"Nine times out of ten, Subway." She answered putting her headphones back on and focusing back on her paper.

Game time got here really fast, and I couldn't be more nervous. Warming up wasn't as bad as I thought, Briannah walked me through everything before, and I just followed whom ever got in front of me.

"Dinah, come be my partner." I heard a demanding and authoritative voice say that I recognized as Zendaya.

I wasn't sure why she wanted to warm up with me and not another player on the team that was more skillful than I was. I didn't question her, I just went.

"So are you nervous?" she asked as I made my way over to her.

I gave her a little nod in response.

"It'll be fine." She started. "Just make your serves and stay into the game even where you're not in." she suggested.

I smiled at her advice. "Thank you." I told her, appreciative of her acceptance of me. I was afraid that she wouldn't like me and that it would make my time here on the team that much harder.

I saw Lauren walking in from the corner of my eye, she looked great. There was a cold front coming through Texas, and she took full advantage of this chance to pull out her beanie. It suited her well, and her black jeans were hugging every part of her waist perfectly.
