Shinigami

L Pov;

It's been less than 24 hours since she left. I can't believe she left without informing me where she was heading. Near is childish and hates losing, I'm childish and hate losing. He's my successor, I know his every move. If my deduction is correct, he will be taking Annie to LA to continue suspecting her. I need to get to where he is. He would be staying in a private hotel in the city, giving her own room so she feels satisfied. Oh Annie. Where are you?

She only seemed full of happiness when she took the phone call. Like she was being offered an amazing job. Maybe Near was tricking her into thinking I'm only using her. Maybe Near is trying to solve a case I couldn't, be better than me. I won't let that happen. Justice is mine, I may have lost the battle by losing her, but I'm going to win this war! Because I am Justice!

Annie Pov;

Near seems quite strange doesn't he. L has more enthusiasm. He entertains me with his smile. Near doesn't seem to smile, it's kind of sad. Like staring out of the window into shackles of rain and pitty.

" We're here now" the man driving says

Near stares into my eyes feeling quite weird. He gives me a dirty smirk and gets out of the car quickly.

The man driving helps me out and grabs both of my hands and ties them behind my back!

" What are you doing?" I ask in pain

Near stares at me once more before I get taken away into custody!

" Bye Bye now, Annie Havé" he chuckles

I try to look around me, but I don't see anything! I'm shocked, Near betrayed me. I knew he was playing dirty now, he lied about L working alone. Near suspects me, L doesn't. L was talking about hiding me when he was on the phone. I feel too sorry for him, I didn't believe him. And now I have to pay the price.

I'm being quietly dragged away, my sore mouth, taped up tight. My arms scratched and bruised. I feel pathetic, and motionless. It all hurts like hell!

I can't control his mind, otherwise Near will just suspect me more. What if I controlled his actions as to let me go and then he commits suicide or something. Really, I would kill Near, but that would just be cowardly of me.

I blink no longer for 3 seconds, allowing the darkness to take over me. I check all of my options. And choose for the man to let me go and drown himself somewhere. I don't hesitate to do this to an innocent person. I don't understand why I don't feel bad.

" I'm sorry" the man cries

He unties my hands, and I rip off the tape off of my grinded and hurting mouth. I spit off a little bit of blood, and I'm free.

The only thing I can see is a man in the distance dunking his head in a bucket full of water. I blink back to normal and feel ever so terrified and scared. I start to run so he won't see I did this. It will look coincidental to Near and his team of the SPK.

I can't run very far. But I manage to get away from my situation. Not knowing where I am, I feel like I'm being followed. I hear chuckles in the distance, not Near's voice. I run to an alleyway.

" So I can see your true power now" a voice says above me

I turn my head only to see a horrible creature that doesn't even look human coming towards me!

" Ahhh, Stay back you freak!!" I scream from the top of my lungs

" No need to worry! I'm a god of death, only you can see me because you hold the power of the eyes" the voice startles me

" I'm a shinigami! I've come from the shinigami realm, and I'm here to be entertained by you" they say

" A, a shinigami? You're here to be entertained?" I ask confused and puzzled

" If a human posseses the power of the eyes, which I'm sure you know about, a shinigami has to stick with the human until their powers have gone" he exlplains

" What if I die, do I lose the power of possessing the eyes?" I ask him

" Yes. You, Annie, can't kill any other human with your powers either" he says

" Are shinigami unkillable?"

" Yes. Only, if a shinigami falls in love with a human, they can die easily and vanish"

" And how am I supposed to entertain you?"

" Well, in the shinigami realm, it's pretty boring. All we can do is gamble or control humans. If a human possesses the power of shinigami eyes, it's quite entertaining for us"

" Do you have a name?" I ask him

" Yes I do. It's Ryuk" he says

I'm shocked that shinigami are acrually real. I had only heard of them as gods of death. Never have I ever seen one before, I don't think any one else has!

" Why did you come all this way or drop a piece of oaper with 'eyes' written on it" I ask Ryuk

" Because I watched another shinigami come into your world, and they never came back. Which means," I cut him off

" Someone else in this world possesses the same power as I do. They must be stronger if they've had it for longer than I have" I suggest

" Correct!" he chuckles menacingly

" Can you tell me where this person is?" I ask

" Shinigami don't work that way. We don't come here to just help you then case solved, we like things to be interesting" he chuckles again

" I knew you wouldn't be fair with me" I say

" Well. You might need to start running. I think this guy Near knows you've escaped" he suggests

" If I tried to kill him," he cuts me off

" You wouldn't be able to kill him that easily"

" What? Yes I can! I can do what I want with him!" I say

He chuckles loudly

" You need the person's name to kill them too" he says

I gasp in fear knowing that I can't kill Near so easily! I need his name to kill too! The man that was dragging me, I knew his name because his licence was in the car. I guess I only have to know the name once, but I don't exactly have to remember it or write it down.

At least there would be no evidence that I possess this power. But what I really want to know, is this other person that has the same power as me. Who are they? Where could they be? Maybe they were the ones who were killing people and criminals before me. L solved those cases. Why does this person still possess the powers then?
