Isolation

L POV:

I felt like it had been so long since we had talked, the same way we talked a long time ago. We should have finished school a while ago, but we have ways of convincing.

Light and Annie were practically best friends, and left me hiding in the shadows. I never came here and became a student to all the sudden know that Annie had somehow taken my powers, and I'm human again. I came here for her, I wanted to fall in love with her all over again, but I recieved the complete opposite.

It's like Annie had stolen a part of my heart too, that actually obtained my humanity. Because now, I really just don't care, and I shut out the world. It deserves all the pain it had caused me, all the pain she had put me through. I never understood her well, she had been faking this whole time, I lost her the day I made a mistake and took her memories away. I got what I deserved, but I didn't think it would hurt me this bad.

It made me think about all that had happen, to Annie, to me, to us. She had suffered, just as much as I did. I felt her claws dig in to me slowly, I felt the thin blood dripping from me, I was empty and dried up. I felt her smile turn into evil as she switched like a light. I screamed, she cried a little, but I knew I did deserve it, that's one thing.

Annie POV:

L meant everything to me, and suddenly that everything became to nothing. The shinigami kind does not allow shinigami to make others of their kind forget memories or of the realm, that's where L fell. I had the powers all along, I saw him follow me, stalkerish. I wanted revenge, but I thought of it in the wrong way.

" Annie! You're not paying attention! What are you gazing at?"

I groan

" Sorry Sir"

" Don't let it happen again" he turns back to concentrate on the subject I was not and still am not listening to.

Suddenly, the door burst open with a messed up kid, looking rushed, it was him.

" Sorry I'm late sir but I had better things to do" he lands in the seat next to me

" I'm disgraced at both of you, Annie and Lawliet. At the beginning of the year, you made the perfect team, now you're both being slothic"

" Is slothic a thing?" I ask

" It is now" he grabs my text books

" Hey what are you doing?!"

" Isolation, only with Lawliet, so not isolated completely" he brings me and L with him to a deserted room filled with the stench of coffee and single teachers.

" Here until lunch, got it?!!"

" Okay we got it" L smirks at him and back at me

I turn away from his immiturity, and act all grouchy all of the sudden. It's as if he has the eyes, but he doesn't, they're mine now.

" L, I"

" What?" He asks

" I'm sorry"

" Why?"

" Don't you get it?!"

" Yes I do, but you were doing it to protect yourself, and I understand that" he smiles

" No it's not like that!" I shout

" Okay okay what then?!"

" I removed your eyes, aren't you sad about that? All that power, in the palm of your hands"

" Annie," he comes closer

" I did it for you" he whispers in my ear at the joy I feel for listening to those five words that mean so much to me

" And what did I do in return?"

" You made me feel special, Annie" he warms up

" How could I do that?" I ask

" Because you make me happy, since the day I met you"

" But, you can't fall in love at first sight" I argue

" I did, and I know you did too"

I fall to the wall and slide to the ground in shame. He never said that before, he was too innocent for me.

" Why did you do it?" I ask mumbling

" Do what?"

" Erase my memories of you"

Silence fell across the room, you could tell he was thinking, concentrating.

" You were unhappy, with me, with what you had to do on a daily basis, you were too innocent for carrying on the line"

" I did it all for you too! I loved you enough to risk my innocence for you"

" I didn't understand you felt that way"

" Well you do now" I came closer to comfort him

" I miss you"

" I miss you too" I kiss his forehead gently and leave to the other corner of the room, leaving him isolated by himself.

I did miss him. I missed him too much if I'm honest here. I loved him still, but I kept denying I did. It was time to grow up and handle things like adults, I was 18 years old, passing off as 17, I was a immature child with a mature body. I didn't want to grow up, and leave all of this behind.

" So what now then?" He asks staring at the blankness of the floor

" Is this the time when I give back your powers?" I ask

" Yes! It's about time!!" He laughs

I blinked for 3 seconds long, like I usually would. And the redness appears once again, as usual, how I would expect it to.

I used my powers to transfer them back to the original owner, L himself.

" Wow I feel so different now! Thanks Annie"

" You're welcome" my eyes shun bright red like lasers

I kept a little to myself, he owes me.

" And now what?" I ask

" Do we go back to our normal lives? Me being a detective, and you solving cases with other teams"

" How about we just work together, L A"

" That's a great idea! L + A = L and Annie!" He exclaimed

Light POV:

I wasn't sure of things, Annie and Light were tossing my head like a toy! I didn't matter to them, or to anyone else in fact. I was a casual straight-A high school student, nothing but a bystander, observing action created by others. Boredom, that was what was bothering me, boredom. There was absolutely nothing to do! Just sit and watch as my friends try to kill eachother, well, not anymore of course, they made up. L and Annie are a perfect match, it's no wonder L chose her to obtain this graceful power.

I swear, one day, I'll matter to them. It may not be now, but I will. I decided that I no longer want to be a coward hiding in the shadows, I could make a difference. There was only one way I could do that, I wasn't so sure at first, or how to get there, but I knew I had to.

I wished and wished every night that a shinigami would come to my rescue, and help me with my boredom, you can see where this is going. I did call for one, and they came, a shinigami, right in my presence.

" Light Yagami! Is there a reason I was sent here by the shinigami king?" Asked the shinigami

" Yes, there is, Kitai. I would like you to turn me!"
