The girl gasped but somehow she kept up with him. Either he never really did sport or the girl was a runner.
They ran blindly into the street, and somehow ended inside a mall.
"Are you mad?" the girl yelled.
Nick blinked, realizing that the girl had just forced him to stop.
The image of the monster Cladz came to him.
"I'll find you," it whispered.
The girl gasped. "What's that monster?"
Nick looked at her. "You saw the cat?"
She nodded, trembling. "It... It just came to my mind."
Voices inside Nick's head started to ring.
"You transfer memories."
The girl gasped again. Nick followed her eyes and he realized both their hands, touching each other, was glowing bright blue, fading. After a few seconds, it turned back normal.
The girl yanked her hand from his grasp and looked at him in fear.
"Who are you? How did you do that?"
"Right now, the only question I can answer is the first one. I'm Nick."
"How did you do that?" she stubbornly asked.
"I don't know. And it's unfair that you got my name and I don't get yours."
"Fine. I'm Feline."
Nick smiled. "Nice to meet you, Feline. Now, that monster you have just seen is named Cladz. I accidentally let him out. And I repeat, I have no idea how I did that. And I am assuming he's following us..."
His eyes caught a glimpse of giant ginger fur running towards them.
"Run!"
"What? Oh."
Nick grabbed Feline's wrist and dragged her once more.
"Whoa!"
Everywhere were screaming people. The mall was chaos.
"This way!" Feline screamed above all the noise.
She dragged him to a cloth store and Nick had no choice but to follow.
They ran down several aisles before Feline made a sharp right turn. They could no longer see the monster, but they could clearly sense and hear him.
"Humans," Cladz's voice boomed with anger.
Feline dragged Nick to the left and stopped abruptly as they were faced with walls.
"Feline!" he said between breaths.
But Feline didn't look afraid. She knew just where she led herself to. She walked to the wall and quickly opened a door. Anybody who doesn't pay attention wouldn't realize there was a hidden door there, just like Nick.
He smiled and both scrambled in.
"Genius. How did you know this?"
"Shh..." She put a finger over her mouth to silence him. He nodded and they waited.
After a few moments, they both heard footsteps outside. Giant, thudding noise. It was the monster.
