The Wedding

The wedding day started with Ashley yelling at someone before sunrise.

Nobody was surprised.

Not even a little.

"Who moved the seating chart?"

The question echoed through the entire venue.

Several vendors froze.

A florist froze.

A photographer froze.

One poor caterer looked ready to quit on the spot.

Ashley stood in the middle of the ballroom holding a clipboard and three different colored pens.

The clipboard had become an extension of her body at this point.

Megan walked in carrying coffee.

Took one look at the situation.

Turned around.

And walked back out.

"Nope."

The venue overlooked the water.

Large windows.

White flowers.

Soft lighting.

Elegant without being overdone.

The exact balance Abigail and Emma had spent months trying to find.

The ceremony space sat outside beneath a beautiful floral arch.

Rows of chairs faced the water.

The breeze was gentle.

The sky was clear.

Perfect.

Absolutely perfect.

Which somehow made Ashley more stressed.

Not less.

By nine in the morning she had checked the seating chart four times.

The flowers six times.

The cake three times.

The sound system twice.

And the emergency backup plan once.

Even though there was no emergency.

"You're doing great."

Megan handed her coffee.

Ashley accepted it.

"Everything is going wrong."

"Nothing is going wrong."

"The napkins are folded differently."

Megan stared.

Then slowly sipped her coffee.

"You're scary."

Ashley looked proud.

Meanwhile—

Abigail was trying not to throw up.

Not from illness.

From nerves.

She sat in the bridal suite staring out the window.

Hair done.

Tie hanging neatly beside her.

Her custom-tailored suit waiting nearby.
