The apartment door closed harder than usual.
arda didn’t slam it on purpose…but he also didn’t really care enough to be gentle right now.
You looked up from the couch.
he dropped his bag by the wall, kicked off his shoes, and just stood there for a second staring at nothing.
that was enough for you to know how the night went.
“hey,” you said carefully.
“hey,” he replied, flat.
He walked into the kitchen, opened the fridge, closed it, then opened it again like something would magically change.
You sat up a little. “Arda.”
“I’m fine.”
You raised your eyebrows.
He sighed. “It’s just…frustrating.”
You nodded. “Yeah. I saw the game.”
He leaned on the counter, arms crossed. “We had it. And now we’re out. No chance at the sixteenth trophy.”
His jaw tightened like he was trying not to say more.
you walked over and stopped beside him.
“are you mad at me?” you asked softly.
He immediately shook his head. “What no never you.”
That was instant no hesitation.
Then he exhaled. “I just don’t want to be in a mood and take it out on you.”
You softened a bit. “You’re allowed to be upset, you know.”
“I know,” he muttered. “I just don’t like it.”
There was a pause.
then you bumped his shoulder lightly. “You’re doing that thing where you pretend you’re a robot.”
He let out a small laugh despite himself.
“shut up.”
“there he is.”
he finally looked at you properly then, and his expression relaxed a little.
“I hate losing,” he admitted.
“I know.”
“but I don’t want to come home and be horrible to you.”
“You’re not horrible,” you said. “You’re just annoyed.”
He nodded slowly, like that helped him breathe again.
After a second, he reached for your hand.
“Can we order food?” he asked. “I need distractions.”
You smiled. “Yeah but you’re picking.”
He groaned. “That’s dangerous.”
“deal with it.”
and for the first time since he walked in, he looked like himself again.
