The music in the house was loud enough to shake the windows.

Not a crazy party. Just one of those footballer house parties where everyone somehow looked expensive without trying. Boys yelling over FIFA, someone in the kitchen making drinks they definitely didn't know how to make, music echoing through the halls.

And unfortunately for you, your brother decided to invite half of the borussia D
dortmund team.

"You stay away from trouble tonight," jude said for the fifth time that evening, pointing at you while pulling on a hoodie.

You stared at him blankly. "You act like I'm five."

"you act like you forget people are weird."

"I literally came here to eat chips."

"that's what worries me."

you rolled your eyes as he walked away toward the living room where the boys were shouting at each other in three different languages.

living in dortmund with your brother while he played for dortmund had been... chaotic.

You loved jude more than anything, but he was painfully protective.

especially around footballers.

especially around one footballer.

"You're jude's sister, right?"

You looked up from your phone.

tall, blond, blue eyes, standing in your kitchen holding a bottle of water like it was microscopic.

erling haaland.

you tried not to look surprised.

"depends," you said carefully. "Who's asking?"

A smile pulled at his mouth. "Erling."

"I know who you are."

"Good, I'd be offended otherwise."

you laughed before you could stop yourself.

great.

because now he looked interested.

he leaned against the counter casually, way too confident for someone built like a viking.

"you don't come around much," he said.

"That's because jude thinks every footballer is evil."

"he's smart."

"Oh, so you admit it?"

"Maybe."

You narrowed your eyes. "You flirt with every girl like this?"

"only the pretty ones."

your stomach betrayed you immediately.

and of course that was the exact moment jude walked back into the kitchen.

his eyes moved from you... to erling... to the very obvious smirk on erling's face.

"No" jude said instantly.

you blinked. "No what?"

"no whatever this is."

erling looked amused. "We're talking."

"you stop talking."

You groaned. "jude."

"I leave for two minutes and haaland's already here."

"sounds personal," erling said.

"It is personal."

the two boys stared at each other.

you were trying so hard not to laugh.

"Relax," you told jude. "He's not kidnapping me."

"he might."

"I'm literally standing here," Erling added.

jude ignored him completely.

"she's younger than us."

"I know numbers, jude."

"and you're annoying."

"You tell me that every training session."

"Because it's true."

You shook your head, grabbing your drink. "You're both dramatic."

As you walked past them, erling quietly said, "You look nice tonight, by the way."

you looked back at him.

jude looked horrified.

And suddenly this party became way more interesting.

Later that night, you sat outside on the back steps wrapped in one of jude's hoodies, scrolling through your phone while the music thumped inside.

The door slid open beside you.

"escaping your brother?" erling asked.

"You mean my full time security guard?"

He laughed softly before sitting beside you.

for a second, it was quiet.

comfortable quiet.

"You know" he said, "Jude talks about you all the time."

You looked over suspiciously. "Hopefully good things."

"mostly threats."

"That sounds right."

"He cares about you."

"I know." You smiled a little. "He just forgets I can survive on my own."

erling studied you for a moment.

"I think he's worried someone will break your heart."

You snorted. "and you definitely look like someone he'd worry about."

"That bad?"

"A little."

He placed a hand over his chest dramatically. "Painful."

You laughed again, and this time he looked at you like he'd won something.

Before either of you could say anything else the door opened again.

jude.

of course.

he stared at the two of you sitting together.

"no."

You buried your face in your hands. "You need a hobby."

"I had a hobby," Jude said. "Now I'm preventing disasters."

erling leaned back against the step casually. "You're making this more suspicious than it is."

jude pointed at him. "See? That's exactly why I don't trust you."

You looked between them and sighed dramatically.

"This feels like divorced parents sharing custody."

"That's not funny," jude muttered.

erling was trying not to laugh.

and honestly you were starting to think flirting with erling might become your favorite hobby too.
