you weren't even supposed to be awake at 7 am but your brother forgot his backpack again and begged you to drop it off before school.

not just any brother, though your brother who plays for the barça academy team/la masia.
His morning practice was at the same complex where the first team trained, and if he showed up without his training gear, his coach would "bench him for life" according to him.

So there you were, hair in a messy bun, hoodie half zipped, standing outside the barça training center holding a spider-Man backpack like it was a bomb about to explode.

"Y/N?" a familiar voice behind you.
Way too awake for this time of day.

You turned around slowly, praying it wasn't who you thought it was.

And it was gavi.
Sweaty hair, training shirt clinging to him, confusion on his face.

"Oh my gosh.." you muttered, "I look homeless."

He laughed loud and bright that laugh that makes every girl rethink her whole life.

"You look cute" he said, shrugging like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Your soul left your body.

"Why are you here?"

"My brother forgot his backpack" you said, raising it like a trophy of humiliation.

"He has practice with the academy right now. I'm not stalking you, I swear."

He lifted an eyebrow "shame. I wouldn't mind."

did gavi just flirt before sunrise? Or in general flirt with you?

Before you could answer, he stepped closer, eyes scanning your sleepy face like he was trying to memorize it.

"you want a ride home?"

"Oh no, I don't want to bother you."

"You're not." his smile softened.

"plus, you can't walk home like that."

"Like what?"

"Like an adorable zombie who just crawled out of bed."

You smacked his arm, but you followed him anyway.

the car ride

his car smelled like cologne, leather, of course.

he kept glancing at you at every red light.

"you're quiet," he said gently.

"I'm trying not to die from embarrassment."

"You shouldn't" he said.

"I like seeing you real. Not all dressed up. Just...you."

Your heart pulled tight.

"You don't even know me like that," you whispered.

He looked at you slow, warm, intense.

"I want to.." he said.

When you got to your house, he stopped you before you opened the door.

"Wait."

You froze.

He leaned closer, cheeks just a little pink yes, even him.

"Can I see you again? Not by accident this time."

"You want to?" you asked softly acting as if your heart didn't just skip a beat.

He brushed a strand of hair behind your ear, fingers warm.

"I woke up early, trained for hours, and the best part of my day was seeing you half asleep holding a superhero backpack" he said.

"So yeah. I want to."

Your throat tightened.

"Okay," you whispered.

Gavi smiled soft, shy, almost boyish.

"Text me." he said. "Or I'll come back tomorrow at 7 am."

"You wouldn't."

He leaned in, lips brushing your cheek, his breath warm.

"Try me."

You nearly melted.

You got out, closed the door and he still didn't drive off. He waited until you were inside, then honked once teasing you.

You screamed into your pillow for 3 entire minutes.

later that night

Your phone buzzed.

gavi:
Did you get enough sleep, zombie?*

You grinned.

You:
shut up.

Two seconds later

gavi:
I miss you already.

Your stomach flipped.

gavi:
can I call you?

You didn't hesitate.
