Katie's POV

4 years in this hell hole of a place. despite the 'happy' name; Sunnyvale is anything but. Its definitely the opposite.

"KATIE!" Ms. Mary called. I jumped off my bed, you never ever not listen to Ms. Mary. She can make your already hell filled life as an orphan even worse. I ran down the stairs jumping the last 3 steps. I stand in the doorway of the kitchen where Ms. Mary was.

"oh good Katie" her smile and cheer an obvious fake. "take that girl upstairs" she spits. pushing the girl towards me. I Lead her up to my room, and show her to her bed.

"hey, I'm Katie. what's your name?" I ask the blonde girl. her straight hair falling just short of her shoulder. Her sweater hanging loosely on the skeleton like of a person. her skin fairly white. Her jeans slipping down her waist.

"It's Jessa" "oh that's a cool name." "thanks" she responds sheepishly. she begins to unpack the one bag of clothes she had. I sit on my bed and open up my note book that I hid in my pillow case, so nobody found it.

I opened up to a clean page and began writing.

Dear Diary

December 3rd ,

Still here. un-adopted . it really sucks. I just want a nice couple to come and adopt me. They have to be nice though. If they're mean like the last 3 people who fostered me. I'll probably just end up dying. I fought the last few times, but now that I think of it there wasn't much of a point of staying alive.

A new girl moved into my room, so I have a roommate now. Her name is Jessa. she has blonde hair that falls on her shoulders. She's really pretty. I don't know much about her. I hope that we become friends though, because I'm getting kind of lonely. I mean I have the little one's but you cant talk to them about what you've been through and what your going through.

Love, Katie Linn

I pushed my notebook back into my pillow case and layed down on my pillow. My silence lasted only 5 minutes though.

"Katie" "Katie" I turned my head to the young child who was standing next to my bed "what's wrong Anna?" I ask sitting up "Tommy is crying" I stand up and head downstairs. I turn left and head into the nursery where children under 3 lived. I went over to the young child he was given back to us after the lady who was fostering him couldn't handle his crying. I was the only one who could calm him down. I picked up the 2 year old and set him on my hip. I grabbed his blue blanket and tip-toe to the kitchen careful, so Ms. Mary or one of the other ladies don't see me. I set Tommy on the kitchen counter and grab the Cheerios out of the cupboard and put them in a bowl. Next I grab a Sippy cup from the cupboard and pour some milk into it. I hand Tommy the blue Sippy cup and pick him back up. I run up the stairs and Tommy bounces in my arms. he laughs every time but I always have to shush him, I don't want the ladies to hear him. I sit down on my bed. I look over at the clock. 6:43. I sit with Tommy as he eats his Cheerios. I hide the cup and the bowl under my bed. I hold Tommy close to me. I begin singing, quietly to him.

(the song is All Of me by John Legend)

What would I do without your smart mouth
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
Got my head spinning, no kidding, I cant pin you down
Whats going on in that beautiful mind
Im on your magical mystery ride
And Im so dizzy, dont know what hit me, but Ill be alright

My heads under water
But Im breathing fine
Youre crazy and Im out of my mind

'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
Ill give my all to you
Youre my end and my beginning
Even when I lose Im winning
'Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you oh
