Alphas Book One: The Finding

Eleven

I open one eye to look over next to me. Zander is snoring louder than ever. Jade isn't next to me. The sun is shining bright through a small window.

Nate is talking to Sky and Scott is flirting with Selina. God! What time is it? I ask myself. 10:00 am. Selina replies through thought.

"Morning sleepyhead." Jade says to me with a smile. I smile back before jumping out of the bed. "Mornin' Jade." She gives me a hug and kisses my cheek.

This is something I can get use to. We both walk upstairs to see Liz making breakfast. She is wearing a Mondays suck shirt with shorts. "Hey Liz!" Jade exclaims, hugging her from behind.

Liz smiles and winks at me. "Good morning sunshine." Her accent is southern. I wave at her. She waves back.

"What you makin' there?" I ask her, looking at the skillet. "Bacon, pancakes, sausage, crepes. You know, the good stuff." She replies.

Zander suddenly appears behind me with his wings expanded. I quickly turn back, frightened. He is shirtless, showing off his six pack.

Liz starts to blush as she glances over at Zander. "Sheathe your wings." I tell him. He quickly holsters his wings and sits down at the table.

Liz out a piece of bacon, a pancake and crepe on a plate before handing it to Zander. He takes the plate. She leans in towards him and whispers in his ear something. His eyes light up with joy.

"Really?!" He says. "Yes, honey. Just don't tell no one or I'll do the same thing from earlier this morning." She says. An arm stretches from downstairs to upstairs, knocking things down until it grabs a steak knife.

"Hey!" It was Scott. "Get out of here or else!" He screams. We all stare at one another for a second before running down to the quarters. A man is standing in the house with a gun in his hand.

He aims it a Jade. I Flow. The man drops to the ground as I teleport (warp) to him. I shake my head. "Idiot." I whisper to him. Jade runs over to me with a excited expression.

"That was amazing!" She screams. Scott pats me on the back. "Good job but I had it set up. It was a test." He says. "For what?" Everyone except Skylarr and Zander stare at me.

"To see what you can do. Anything else you can do?" Nate asks me. "Yeah!" I reach for my staff and turn my skin to metal (bond) just by thinking about it.

Everyone looks in awe. "Holy crap!" Liz says with a surprised tone. Nate starts to aim his hand at me as some type of bolt builds in his palm.

Suddenly I'm hit with a bolt of electricity from his hand, knocking me backwards into a wall. My skin turns back to normal before I grab my staff.

I burst through the staff into Nate's chest, not even phasing him. "What the heck?" I whisper. "Indestructible skin." He says proudly. I warp behind him and hit him with the staff in the back.

Nate goes flying through the room into Sky, who had made a cloud for him to land on. "Nice cloud." He says with a smirk. Jumping up, Nate shoots a knife sharp bone at me from his fist.

Without even thinking or looking I front flip over the bone. I then throw my staff at him, but this time he falls to the ground.

Scott puts his hand behind his back and walks over to Nathan. "This is why you don't challenge the new kids." He says calmly. Nate gold his head up and opens his palm.

"You aren't go to-" Within moments, Nate's left arm starts to make his whole body look demonic. "I'm part of a demon," he turns into a giant red and black demon. "and you just woke him up!"

Nate charges at me, knocking Scott out of the way. Scott falls to the floor as I sucker punch Nate in the face. Nothing happens. He swings his giant claws at my face.

I lean back before throwing a punch. Seems in enhanced in combat, agility, and reflexes. Zander extends his arm as he Wraps Nate in constructs of chains.

"Calm down!" Jade yells as him as he throws a bone at me again. This time, I Warp behind him. I Flow. He falls, turning back to normal. Scott grabs him from five feet away and drags Nate up the stairs.

"Sorry about the Max." He says. My breathing starts to slow. I need energy. A tiny generator is thrown to me before I catch it. Jade was the one who threw it to me. "Thanks." I tell her. She winks. "No problem." She says.

As we all sit down at the table, Nate smirks at me. "No hard feelings?" He asks me. I look up from my plate with my hand out. "Nope." He fist bumps me.

The phone to the house starts to ring. Selina quickly goes for it. "Hello? Yes sir....... Alright.... We'll be there in the next hour. Bye." She hangs up the phone.

"Who was it?" Scott asks her. Selina starts to shake her head as a tear falls from her eyes. Nate stands up. "Agent Jones." Why would he be calling? I ask myself.

It's not good. Selina says. "You guys hear that?" Nate asks us. "Hear what?" Scott asks him. Nate kneels to the ground before putting his hand on the floor.

I can hear a few cars outside but they are far far away. "I hear it too." I say. "What is it dammit?!" Scott yells at us.

"Cars. 8 actually. A dozen guys in each car." Nate jumps up and shoots a bone-knife into his hand. "We're gonna need something big." I say.

"Call Jones back and tell him to bring reinforcements!" Scott instructs Selina. She picks up the phone and sails the number.

I can here the cars getting closer. "Agent Jones we need you guys to get here!" Selina yells into the phone. "Those people are Omegas agents!" He yells back. Perfect!
