Moonlit Romance [Percico]

What if, a simple talk led to a moonlit romance?

Nico di Angelo sat with his knees pulled up close to his face. The son of Hades watched as Apollo gave way to Artemis, who lit up the sky with silver as she drove her chariot of the moon.

He thought he saw her wink down at him as she soared across the sky, leaving Nico confused. He guessed Artemis just favored him a bit more.

What was she winking for? Nico thought. That was, until he sensed someone coming. The son of Hades quickly drew his nightmarish blade, darker than Nyx, and pointed it at the target.

A pair of heart melting sea green eyes stared back at him, dancing with amusement. The son of Poseidon had his hands held up in mock surrender.

It was no secret that the Golden Couple, Annabeth and Percy, had broken up a while ago. The breakup itself was pretty peaceful; there was no injury, just mutual understanding.

Nico had tried to avoid Percy after that. He knew that if the oblivious, single, son of the sea god got near him, it would trigger his feelings stronger than before.

And yet, here he was, Nico's sword at his throat.

He sheathed the sword and glared at Percy with a murderous stare. All false, though, Nico could never stay too mad at Percy.

Apparently, Percy could see through the facade too, for he smiled brightly at Nico. The son of Hades could feel his knees wobble at the warm smile directed at him. It was almost like his smile started to melt the jagged icicles of his heart.

"Hey, Ghost King! Haven't seen you in a while." Percy said, still beaming.

Nico looked away so Percy couldn't see his blush in the moonlight. "Hey, Jackson," he mumbled.

Percy nestled down next to him legs criss-cross applesauce style. The Sea Prince tapped Nico's shoulder and looked up at Artemis's chariot streaking across the sky. "Nico, do you like me?"

Nico nearly choked on his own saliva. "Wh-what?" The Ghost King spluttered, "What the heck, Jackson?! Why would you ask me that?!"

Percy looked at him, sea green eyes sparkling in the silver light, and shrugged. "I don't know. I guess what Jason told me was a lie."

"JASON?!" Nico all but roared. "Jason told you that? Sorry, Jackson, but I have a son of Jupiter to murder." Nico's eyes were glinting cold fire, burning with murderous intent. His hand traveled to his sword, ready to shadow travel away to Zeus's cabin, but a warm, tan hand on his cold, pale one stopped him.

"Well, I wished he wasn't though."

Nico dropped his sword. A pair of warm lips touched his own softly, almost like a butterfly kiss. Though it lasted an eternity. A spark shot through Nico's body and he kissed back with no hesitation. He pulled away, staring at Percy's eyes, whose only held sincere love in them.

"Percy? What was-" but Nico was cut off at the son of Poseidon's eyes watering as his mouth dropped open. Nico tilted his head to the side. "What?"

"You called me by my name. YOU CALLED ME BY MY NAME!" Percy squealed like a girl whose parents gave her favorite book to. Without warning, the elder boy picked Nico up by the waist and spun him around, laughing as the Ghost King hit his arm.

Percy set Nico down on the soft grass and said, "Well, I'm sorry for the kiss, Nico. I guess you really don't like me." Nico thought he heard a hint of sadness as the son of Poseidon turned away to walk back down the hill, but Nico quickly jumped up and grabbed his hand and spun him around.

Again, the Sea Prince was astonished as Nico crashed his warm lips onto his, nothing like the cold ones he was expecting. Fireworks wracked his body as he twirled Nico around again. This was nothing like with Annabeth. This was a whole new feeling. And he loved it.

They kissed until they needed air, and when they parted, they stared for a millenia in each other's eyes. Nico's reflecting the stars, and Percy's showing the moon.

And as they held hands under the beautiful glow of the night, Artemis smiled down at the two, loving the romance framed by the light of her moon.
