I will admit, I had a hard time wondering if I should make this another angsty one-shot.

But since it's New Year and the angst in real life has hit hard these past few weeks, I'll spare you. Have this fluffy one-shot for New Year.

It was about 10 minutes until New Year, and Percy was squashed against the wall by the crowd of people dancing. He internally sighed and tried to inch into a freer space.

When he finally broke into the emptier kitchen, he heaved a sigh of relief. Fanning himself with a hand, he walked to the fridge and opened it, rummaging through it for a few before triumphantly pulling out a can of beer, popping it open. Percy was about to take a drink until a hand plucked it out of his grip. Before he had a chance to protest, a glass of champagne was pushed into his open hand.

He blinked in surprise before he looked up, finding Annabeth, the hostess of this party and his best friend, smirking at him. She had a matching champagne glass in her hand, which tilted towards his expectedly.

Even in the chaos of the party, Annabeth looked stunning. Her curly blonde hair had been tamed into ringlets, and her black, form-fitting dress hugged the curves of her body. Stray pieces of hair were clipped back by a crystal pin in the shape of a rose.

Percy clinked his glass with hers, and together, they downed the entire beverage. The bubbly alcohol made warmth spread through his body, and he sighed, feeling refreshed from the drink. "Thanks, Annie, I needed that."

Annabeth smirked back at him, and replied, "I'm gonna let you calling me Annie slide because it's New Year. And yeah, I could tell; I saw you inching on the wall like some sort of weird plant."

Percy flushed (not from the alcohol) and scratched the back of his neck. "Ahaha... anyways! Where's Piper?"

Piper was Annabeth's girlfriend and co-hostess of the party. She was also the one that forced Percy to come to said celebration, even though he refused because, quote, "You have gone kissless every single year, Percy. It's about time you get one. You're 23, for gods' sake. Live a little."

So, he came. Not for the kiss, mind you; Piper and Annabeth's parties are always amazing, and the food was delicious. Not to mention, the free alcohol, though Percy was only looking a slight buzz, not to get full-on drunk like Leo and Jason were on their way to achieving, if the loud laughter back on the dance floor was any indication.

Speak of the devil, and she shall appear. Piper arrived in the doorway, flushed from the heat of all the bodies moving together on the dance floor. Her choppy brown hair was pulled back into a small bun, with the same crystal rose pin as Annabeth's finishing off the hairstyle. In contrast to her girlfriend, however, Piper's dress was white and loose, ending at her knees. Despite the heat of the dance floor, Piper still looked effortlessly gorgeous.

"Ooh, champagne? Hand me a glass!" Piper exclaimed, plucking said glass out of her girlfriend's hand and pouring herself some. She clinked her glass with Percy's empty one and drank the alcohol in one go, releasing a satisfied sigh as the drink made its way down.

Annabeth sighed fondly at her girlfriend's whirlwind energy and wrapped an arm around her waist. Piper responded by wrapping her own around Annabeth's neck. They shared a chaste kiss before Percy coughed slightly, alerting them to his presence.

"Hey Perce!" Piper greeted. She took both empty glasses and placed them in the sink, detaching from Annabeth to do so. "How are you enjoying the party?"

Percy sighed, "It's nice, Piper. But I really would've rather not have come. It's really hot and crowded. I can't even dance!"

"Oh, Percy. You poor soul. You know why I persuaded you to come! And Beth really wanted you to come as well! You missed last year's party, and she was bummed a little about it," Piper replied, before whining as Annabeth smacked her arm, cheeks pink.

"You didn't have to tell him that!" Annabeth grumbled.

Percy felt slightly guilty when he heard that, but he shoved the feeling down. He coughed again to gain their attention, then pointed at the entryway as a sign of excusing himself from the conversation.

Annabeth gave him a nod, eyes still trained on the floor and cheeks dusted pink. Piper waved at him enthusiastically, and yelled, "Go get your kiss, Percy! It's almost New Year!" as he slipped out of the kitchen, not bothering to acknowledge that he already had someone in mind to share his kiss with, but not daring to hope that he would.

In the dim lighting of the living room turned dance floor, Percy once again stuck to the wall as he tried to make his way to the snack table. He was inching along and saw the haven of the almost empty space around the table loaded with snacks.

He was within reaching distance when the crowd he was trying to avoid suddenly pitched him forward, taking him with them. They seemed to be making for the TV in the front of the living room, and Percy realized that they were about to watch the Ball drop for New Year.

Percy silently mourned the loss of the snacks he wanted to eat and began trying to detach himself from the crowd to no avail. He looked around for a way to escape as he heard the seconds counting down, wanting to see the dropping, but he tripped on someone's foot as he was making his way forward.

His arms clenched towards his sides and his hands splayed outward in an effort to protect himself from impact, and his eyes squeezed shut, but not before he caught a glimpse of startled, warm brown eyes in front of him as he pitched forward, taking someone down with him.

Percy could hear the excited (and inebriated) guests jump up and yell "1!" But all he could concentrate on was the feeling of a warm mouth against his.

Percy's eyes snapped open in shock, wanting to see who was in love with him, not daring to hope for who it was, but when his gaze landed on widened brown eyes and mussed black hair, he knew it was true.

He scrambled upwards, but stumbled, only just managing to catch himself before he toppled onto the other again. Percy sneaked a glance, seeing his hands on either side of the boy's face, whose expression was still shocked, lips still parted from the surprise kiss.

"Nico!" Percy successfully stood up, and turned away from the boy who was slowly sitting up again, as if in a daze. His tan cheeks burned red in embarrassment, and he wanted the ground to swallow him whole right at this moment.

Nico was the big brother of one of Piper's friends, Hazel, who in turn was the girlfriend of Percy's friend, Frank. He had invited Hazel's family over to their Christmas party, which included Nico. Though they only exchanged a few words then, Percy found himself interested in the secrets Nico's soft words and quiet gazes held. As the years went on, Percy found himself in love with the younger, who warmed up to him as time passed.

Now, though, facing the fact that he had kissed his crush, he was mortified. He wanted to apologize, though for what, he didn't know, since a New Year's kiss can only be shared by 2 people in love, but the words only got stuck in his throat.

While Percy was fishing for an answer in the maelstrom of his thoughts, Nico had gotten up again. His cheeks were still flushed with a deep red, but his eyes were determined. He stepped in front of Percy and kissed him again.

Percy's eyes widened to the size of saucers, but he kissed back anyway, thinking this wasn't a bad way to start the New Year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!!! 🎆🎉🎆

I was slightly more prepared this time and am writing this 2 hours before New Year! Which, granted, doesn't seem that early, but compared to the last time I wrote a New Year one-shot... yeah, definitely earlier.

Anyway, I just wanted to write this one-shot to welcome everyone into the New Year on a positive note! I hope 2018 holds more promise, possibilities, and potential than 2017, and that this is an excellent year for you!

Happy New Year, guys! One of my resolutions is definitely to start writing more, and get more out to you, my wonderfully patient readers.

I hope you continue to support me on my writing and life journey! Happy New Year everyone! I love you!!!
