I am alive! *thunder crashes* Muahaha-

No?

Okay. Anyways! One-shot of today:

What if, Nico was a prince and Percy was his bodyguard?

Prince Nico forced a smile as he greeted giggling girls and their mothers who tried to force him to wed their daughters.

It wasn't his fault that his father decided that he was in need of a bride. Nico would gladly hand his crown to his older sister Bianca if the stupid idea that a boy must rule wasn't in place.

Said big sister covered her mouth with her silver gloved hand and laughed softly, looking amused at her little brother's predicament. Bianca's long onyx hair was done in a braided bun, and her black dress with silver trimming was floor-length. She looked beautiful as always with her obsidian eyes that sparkled with love.

"Don't worry, Nic. (1) It'll be over soon enough. Papa only wants the best for the kingdom; you know this," Bianca said sympathetically.

Nico groaned at the thought of being king, but nonetheless sighed and accepted his fate as it came. His face brightened when he saw his mother, Queen Maria, having such a fun time at the gala. Okay, if she was happy, Nico would at least put a fake smile on.

He pushed his way past people chatting and dancing into the almost open air of the refreshments table. Nico breathed a sigh of relief, checked to see if his crown was still on his head, and took a cup of punch.

The prince almost spilled the refreshing drink and jumped when he heard a voice on his left say, "Not much for parties are you?"

Nico turned to the stranger, ready to glare and reprimand him, when he caught sight of his eyes.

They were deep green, a color you don't see very often in Nico's kingdom. In his eyes, Nico could see every single emotion that the stranger felt. The man was concealed by the shadows, but he could clearly see the beautiful eyes strike against the tan complexion of his skin, and the darkness of his hair.

Nico's breath caught. This stranger was... beautiful.

When the stranger chuckled, Nico was broken from his trance, and he stammered for a reply. The handsome man laughed a full laugh, now, and held out a gloved hand, saying, "My name is Perseus Jackson. But, call me Percy. Perseus is too formal for me."

Nico scrambled to compose himself as best as he could, suddenly grateful for the nighttime theme of the ball, for this man couldn't see his flaming red cheeks. The crown prince offered a half smile and shook the tan hand, saying, "Good evening. My name is Prince Nicolas Florencio Marques di Angelo. I trust you are enjoying the party, Perseus?"

Percy nodded slightly, mesmerizing eyes still trained on Nico's short frame. "I am, your Majesty."

Nico grimaced at the title, finally remembering the fact that the ball was because he needed to find a wife and carry on the di Angelo line. "Please, don't call me that. Nico will do."

Percy's lips curled into a mischievous smirk, mock-bowing, and said, "Of course, your Highness." Nico playfully swatted at him, saying, "Be quiet, Perseus."

"I didn't say anything, Prince."

"Like heck you didn't!"

The two laughed loudly, enjoying their casual talk together. Especially the prince, who had always had people falling to their knees in order to please him, always calling Nico "Prince" or "your Majesty". But with Percy, it was like talking with an old friend. It was nice.

Percy also loved his time with the prince. Despite the crown and kingship he was destined to have, he didn't have a pompous or arrogant air. He was merely a seventeen, soon to be eighteen, year old boy who wanted some genuine company and friendship.

The melody of a waltz soon came on, and Percy offered a hand. Nico stared at it in confusion before Percy asked, "Care for a dance, your Highness?" The prince's pale face lit up with red as he took the hand, being pulled onto the dance floor into the solid chest of Perseus Jackson.

The nighttime theme suddenly made a whole difference on the boring dance Nico once thought it was. The glowing stars decorated all over the darkened room cast the perfect amount of light on the swaying couple, who were completely oblivious to the crowd they had attracted. At that moment, it was only them. Percy and Nico. Not stranger and prince.

As they were dancing, Percy noticed something off. The hair on the back of his neck was prickling, making him suspicious. While they twirled around the perimeter of the crowd, Percy's green eyes swept around the gathering of people, looking for something that seemed out of place.

His eyes narrowed when he saw a shady group of people huddled around the huge wooden doors, whispering and occasionally glancing at the crown prince. They conversed a bit more before two men extracted themselves from the group and walked outside, doors closing silently.

Percy's concentration was broken when the waltz ended and Nico was dragging him back towards the refreshments table.

The prince sat down in a nearby chair, laying his head down on the cool polished wood. Percy set a drink in front of his face. "How was that for a dance before you get married, your Grace?"

Nico frowned in remembrance, about to say something when a loud crash resonated throughout the ballroom. People scrambling out of the way of the now broken window as the two men Percy had seen burst through the door, armed.

Immediately, Percy was back on his feet, dragging the stupefied prince up and behind him. In the blink of an eye, Percy turned from an innocent (2) dancer in the crowd to the royal guard King Hades had secretly hired in his anxiety to keep his heir safe.

The crown prince could only stare in shock as the man he had known for only a few hours pulled off his gloves with his teeth, watching a concealed dagger shoot out from the tuxedo sleeve and into the chest of one armed man. Nico could feel himself being pulled away from Percy (3) and struggled to hold onto the whirling and slashing storm of a guard. However, the person became more insistent, tugging harder as they tried to lead him where the other royal family members were waiting for him with wide and scared eyes.

Nico cast a doubtful look at Percy, pulling on his arm to get him to come with. This plan was also shot through when said man looked up and shook his head. Dipping his face down towards Nico's, he whispered, "No, my Prince. I can't leave. It us my sworn duty to protect you. After all, ours is a dangerous love."

With that, Percy pressed a heated kiss on Nico's lips and ran off towards the sounds of gunfire. The crown prince, in his stupefied state, allowed the person to bring him to his family. Along the way, between the scent of gunpowder, smoke, and blood, he caught a faint whiff of the sea.

AND I AM FINALLY DONE WITH THIS ONE-SHOT. GODS. THIS TOOK SUCH A LONG WHILE. ;-;

I'm also really sorry for the long wait for a new one-shot. I just kinda lost inspiration for a while before deciding to finish this halfway one-shot.

Okay... phew. I think I'm calm now. Sorry for all the author notes in between, by the way. I just couldn't resist! :P

(1): The nickname "Nic" was intentional, not a misspelling.

(2): *snort* yeah, "innocent"

(3): oml, you guys! When I was writing "Percy", I accidentally put "Pervy"! X'D

I hope you enjoyed a random one-shot that became really crappy towards the end. Au revoir!

Xoxo,
