*Jake*
I looked around the empty hallway feeling like I’ve just lost something important. Where did Cassie go! I wasn’t that far behind her and she couldn’t have gotten far, especially because this was an obvious dead end. I knew Cassie was a smart girl but where could she was gone in a dead end!
Maybe she just doesn’t want to talk.
Yeah well we have to talk eventually.
But she doesn’t want to talk to you.
I need to talk to her.
Take a hint.
I groaned to myself and reluctantly walked away from the place I was almost positive Cassie had gone.
I didn’t even know what to do with myself anymore not only was Cassie was speaking to me but neither was Dan! I didn’t even know what I had done wrong! It obviously had to be something bad considering my one best friend was upset about it.
“Oh sorry,” I heard someone say as I bump into a muscular figure, I looked up as I recognized the sound of the voice. Dan.
“Oh shit,” I heard him mumble.
“Dan,” I said extremely happy to see him. He was my best friend for crying out loud, we did everything together. He was there the time I scored my first goal in soccer and I was there during his first loss. He was there when I fell down the stairs and almost broke my foot and I was there when he got his dog.
“Come on man,” I tried reasoning with him, “talk to me.”
He simply shook his head and turned around and began to walk away. My best friend turned his back on me, I just seriously screwed up.
*Cassie*
I giggled as I watched Ian struggle with the door. After I agreed to have breakfast with him he threw me on his back and was now struggling with the door.
“You know you could easily just put me down,” I said making the amusement clear in my voice.
“Now,” he said and I could almost hear the smirk in his voice, “That wouldn’t be so fun.”
Another giggle escaped my lips as he finally got the door open. I don’t get why Alec said Ian was so dangerous, maybe it was just a little family rivalry that they had. To me Ian was the best thing that happened to me in this whole damn trip. I’ve barely known him for a week and he’s already growing on me. He was different, he didn’t seem to care what people thought. He was also pretty badass if I do say so myself. Ian had some sort of effect on me…I really couldn’t describe it.
“I have something to tell you,” Ian’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts and makes me look up at him.
Wait…when I got off his back.
Daydream much?
Shut up.
Afraid of the truth darling?
Since when did I get so mean?
Look who’s going to lala land again.
You don’t even have a face but I can see a smirk.
Snap out Cassie!
Weren’t we arguing just a second ago?
Extremely cute guy wants to tell you something!
Oh right! Wait-cute!? Since when have I tho-
“Cassie?” Ian said waving his hand in front of my face.
“Huh? Oh right, yeah,” I said smiling up at him.
“Right...” he said with a hot side-smirk.
Hot?!
What the hell am I thinking!?
Maybe you’re just trying to move on from Jake.
Move on!? We were never together!
“Cassie, you’re doing it again” said Ian once again.
I groaned to myself, “Sorry, just tell me whatever it is you need to tell me before I blank out again.”
He simply smiled at this, oh how I wanted not to be attracted to those bright blue eyes…but I was… but then again. I couldn’t imagine Ian as more than a friend, that’s all he was to me. Maybe even a brother, but the thought of his lips on mine made me want to throw up a little.
“So as I was saying I-“Ian tried to tell me again but was interrupted again…but not by my voice…or because I blanked out again. But something that I wish hadn’t happened.
Alec.
You’re screwed.
You know there’s absolutely no way for you not to be involved into this.
Shit…we’re screwed…
Finally! You’ve made a breakthrough!
That’s basically calling yourself stupid.
Shut. Up
“I told you to stay away from him Cassie,” Alec said as he dragged me away from Ian. I quickly looked back at Ian and mouthed ‘sorry’ with was just returned with a simple shrug of the shoulders.
“Let me go Alec,” I said my voice low and annoyed.
I wasn’t a four year old; I was eighteen for crying out loud! I could take care of myself! I didn’t need help from a guy who had something against his brother.
“No.”
“Let me go or ill scream,” I said digging my heels onto the floor making him drag me even more.
“You’re bluffing,” he said and continued to drag me along.
“Try me,” I said.
Of course I want bluffing; I wasn’t going to give up until I got a valid reason for the hate Alec held towards Ian. They were family for crying out loud! Bound by blood! If there’s people that you can always count on no matter what. I have two little sibling, who I am extremely protective of. I remember when my brother brought his first friend over; I locked him in his room because the friend happened to be a girl.
“HELP! STRANGER DANGER! STRA-“I began to scream, attracting stares from different people. Some were worried some were amused and some were disapproving. But before I could continue my rant Alec placed his hand over my mouth dragging me into the empty staircase.
“If I tell you why Ian is so dangerous will you not scream?” he pleaded as his hand was placed firmly on my mouth.
Not being able to speak I just simply nodded.
“Alright,” he sighed obviously not happy to giving me an explanation.
