The sun sets and the air starts to get chilly. I wrap one of the blankets around my shoulders and pray for the people to get back soon. After waiting for about another hour I give up hope that they would come back. I'm just another mouth to feed. Besides, why would they come back into the city when it's dark out? L said that when it got dark, the biters liked to roam amongst in herds. Speaking of the biters, one of them had wondered up to the fence and started to make noises at me. Blood was dripping off of it's face and some of it's entrails where hanging out and dragging onto the ground behind it. I sit up and stab it right in the eye. "Good riddance, filthy pest." I spat and lay back down. Maybe it would be best to stay here for the night...They can't get in and they don't really seem to notice me. Or smell my flesh, the stench of rotting garbage must be enough to block off my scent. I close my eyes and try to sleep.
Throughout the night more biters walk up to the fence and claw at it, but they got tired after awhile and wander back off. One of the biters started shaking the fence louder and I get alittle frightened so I turn over on my other side. I grimance at the soreness of my ribs when I turn. It'll heal soon, then they won't hurt that much. The shaking stops like I knew it would, but the sound of the fence rustling and creaking alittle stops the noise. The sound of feet crackling on this side of the fence makes my eyes widen. I grip my knife, turn, and come face to face with the driver from earlier.
"Sorry for startling you. I didn't mean to." He says to me softly. I put my knife down and just stare for a moment. The woman from earlier jumped over the fence and smiled sweetly at me. Tears rolled down my cheeks. "I-I didn't think you guys would come back!" The tears turn to sobs and the woman embraced me in a tight hug. "We survivors gotta stick together don't we?" I sniffled and smiled at her remark. I wipe my eyes and apologize. "There's no need to aplolgize, we understand." The man replies. "My name is Jeremy." He held out his large hand and I took my smaller hand into his and shook it. "Mine is Lisa" The woman says smiling. "My name is Melody." I say and smile back. Lisa squeezes my hand. "Come on, we'll take you to the others." I stare at her perplexed. "Others?"
They both smiled at my remark and hopped back over the fence. I grabbed my stuff and hop over as well. Jeremy leads me to the car and we all get in. He starts the car and heads down the road, leaving the city. We soon started to go off the asphalt road onto dirt road. I saw hay bales outside my window. There were still bloody body remains on the side of the road and scattered, but it wasn't half as bad as it was in the city; plus it was kind of peaceful. We come to this large house on the outskirts of the city, it was a two-story house with baby-blue paint and a small fenced in area with a few animals. I noticed a small garden of some sort off to the side. The house and a few acres around it were all fenced it and barricaded, only with two exits. I see one exit off the side and of course, the one in front. There was a RV parked in front of the house with a small fire blazing beside it. Jeremy drives up to the fence and Lisa got out, opened the gate and closed it behind us. As we head towards the RV I can hear a few mumbles from the said 'others'. The car stops, the door is opened for me and a hand reaches in to take mine and introduce me to the 'others'.
