Flashback
In Eichen house, my mind space. I'm laying still and immobile in my bed, staring at the ceiling, when suddenly, I become aware and turn my head to the side to look around.
I realize that I'd been admitted to Eichen and take notice of the sink and toilet in my room before looking at the large metal door that has been left open. I stand up and walk to the door but after a moment.
I sense something off and turn around to find that my physical body is still lying catatonic in bed, and it's actually my Banshee astral self that is walking around in my mind space. Before I can ponder this further, I hear a clanking noise that concerns me enough that I leave my room to investigate the source of it.
I slowly pad barefoot down the hall until I reach a room with a metal door handle and open it to find a white-tiled bathroom with a matching white bathtub inside, the same room that I saw in my repressed memory.
I hear someone breathing heavily and look more closely at the bathtub when suddenly, a small, feminine hand covered in black goo reaches out of the tub and grabs the side of the tub to help herself out.
I start to hyperventilate in fear as Meredith who is covered from head to toe in black goo and wearing only a soaked hospital gown, climbs out of the bathtub and crawls in a jerky, disjointed motion toward me, who gasps and turns to run out of the room, only for it to telekinetically close and lock itself so I can't escape.
Eventually, Meredith stands and looks me in the eyes before whispering to me "Don't be afraid" I, terrified, Banshee screams, though we are unable to hear it
I and a now-clean Meredith are standing in my mind space through our Banshee connection, where We're watching as Nurse Cross sits at my bedside and scowls at my catatonic body.
Nurse Cross says "I have been here a long time, Lydia. You think I haven't seen this before? I know when patients are pretending-- manipulating to get what they want. You're not getting out of here. Someone as dangerous as you? We can keep you here for the rest of your life"
I and Meredith are both horrified by the way that Nurse Cross is treating my physical body.
Meredith looks at me with an urgent expression "You have to wake up"
I anxiously "What if I can't?"
Meredith grimly "Then you won't be able to help your friends... And they'll die without you."
I look horrified and lost about how to get out of my current situation "How am I supposed to help them like this?"
"You learned to fight, didn't you?"
I shake my head "Only a little"
Meredith gives me a confident look "You learned more than you think you did, and faster than an ordinary person would"
I hopelessly "That doesn't matter now"
Meredith sternly "It does. Because I'll teach you the rest. I'm going to show you how to use your voice-- how to use it as a weapon"
I and Meredith are experiencing a vision of high school. Meredith watches from behind as I walk over to the bookshelf where the seniors inscribe their initials during Senior Scribe and frantically knock the yearbooks onto the floor, only to find to my horror that the shelf itself is completely blank.
I say "Our names are gone. Our initials..."
Meredith stands next to me and gives me a grim look "Not just you and your friends-- everyone"
I'm visibly horrified by the thought of what could happen to the townspeople "What am I supposed to do? How do I save them?"
Meredith vanishes, but her whisper is still heard by me as it echoes through the room "Don't be afraid..."
